Great co-op game with a great theme.
The is a co-operative game with a hidden traitor mechanics. I have two members of my family that hate traitor mechanics because it feels like they are lying, but with this game you can reveal any time you want. This creates less pressure. The game is very balanced. It usually takes us 4 hours to finish with the longest being 6 hours. The board is gorgeous. The plastic molds are good quality and the same with the cards. The first couple of times we lost to the deep but then we learned how to beat them. Certain characters work well together.

Some Dagon Nice-Looking Cards!
FFG is slowly winning me over with the new Descent, Arkham (board game, I’m not nuts!), and this surprisingly well-done mashup of traitor games and the tight action economy of their other coop titles. It’s like Dead of Winter and Mansions of Madness had a baby. A fun baby.Never played BSG, but this is apparently a reskin of a much-loved game transported to their Arkham Files world. But this time we have some new faces, which is nice. I’ve got nothing against Jenny the dilettante chick and the hobo with the dog guy, but seeing them turn up in every game gets a little old.Their miniatures are hit or miss; Mansions’ are terrible, new Descent’s are amazing. These are somewhere in between. The Deep Ones are meh but the two big monsters look great. I’ve seen this exact art of them in several other games but having them as big miniatures is a ton of fun. Some people have complained about the hodgepodge of art styles. While it’s true that the ship illustration on the board itself has a “bad Sketchup paint over” vibe, the card art and manual design is so insanely tasty that I found the game extremely nice to look at on balance.Be warned though, this is not Werewolf or even Dead of Winter-level gaming. There’s a good amount of stuff going on and keeping track of all the mechanics in effect and actions available to you is going to be a struggle if you’re not fairly deep into board gaming already. That said, there’s no reason you and/or your loved ones can’t learn and this would be a great place to start.Keep up the good work, FFG!

Great theme, wonderful mechanics, and can have nail biting action.
Love this game. Enough content to have fun but not too heavy. Very good mechanics and of course a hidden traitor or two. We have a great time every time we play it

High-Quality Components:The game components are top-notch, from the detailed miniatures to the sturdy game board and cards. The visual design and quality of materials enhance the overall gaming experience, making it a joy to play and explore.4. Tension and Suspense:One of the game’s strongest points is its ability to generate tension and suspense. The hidden traitor mechanic keeps everyone guessing and creates an atmosphere of paranoia and distrust. This makes for an exciting and unpredictable gameplay experience, where alliances are tested, and every move is scrutinized.5. Replayability:With different roles, scenarios, and outcomes, Unfathomable offers high replayability. Each game feels unique, with new challenges and dynamics emerging based on player actions and decisions. This ensures that players will want to return to the game time and time again.Minor Drawbacks:1. Complexity for New Players:The game’s rules and mechanics can be daunting for newcomers. The learning curve is steep, and it may take a few playthroughs for players to fully grasp the intricacies of the game. However, for those willing to invest the time, the complexity becomes a rewarding aspect.2. Game Length:Unfathomable can be quite lengthy, often running several hours per session. Its immersive storyline and high replayability make it a standout choice for fans of horror and complex board games. Despite minor drawbacks, it delivers an unforgettable and suspenseful gaming experience. Highly recommended for those seeking a challenging and atmospheric adventure!
