Works perfectly for capturing small venomous snakes.
I did not buy these tongs for the typical application. I am part of the Snake Wranglers, based in the San Diego, CA region. We are a group of volunteers who capture and relocate snakes as a public service. Most of the snakes that we "rescue" are venomous rattlesnakes. We use special tools to protect both our Wranglers and the snakes we rescue. For larger snakes, we use large hooks and tongs that do the job very well. These large tools do not work so well, however, when we are working with newborn or other young snakes. When a friend introduced me to this product, I immediately knew that these tongs would work very well for capturing the many baby rattlesnakes that we are asked to rescue every spring and fall.I am happy to report that this product works perfectly for our unusual requirements. I did have to file the metal points on the areas of the tongs which come in contact with the snakes, and then paint this surface with a rubber coating. When these modifications were completed, I had created a new, very valuable tool that will likely be adopted by most of my teammates and likely others who perform a mission that is similar to one performed by our group.

Not just for crabs.
I bought these after seeing someone using a pair of them in a video online.I'm 67, and have 3 grippers ((ok i'm lazy) but I use these things to grab stuff I can't quite reach when I'm doing stuff.

Works great. No pinched fingers
Well priced and works great. They are both different. I found the ones with the larger opening easier to grab the back of the crabs. Sent a picture of these to a friend that crabs often.

Cheap but
Initial impression:These are made by punching and bending one piece of sheet metal. The fit and finish is terrible. It's a set and they end up being around $5 each. I'm going to use them tonight. Who knows, they could end up being awesome. I will find it. ::shrug::

Delicate and cheap
I was excited to receive the grippers the day before my crabbing trip. They do the job but the metal is a cheap grade. It really should be heavier.I'll be looking for a better product.

little gripping power
For the suggested uses I expect these are fine. I got them for pulling up hard to reach unwanted tree saplings in the garden. They look mean but they don't have much gripping power like pliers have. Kitchen and barbecue stuff they'd be ok.
