what is that strap that says rapala on it? how long is it and use?

That strap is called a lanyard and is used to make holding the clipper, or attaching it to something else, easier. It's total length is roughly 6". The lanyard didn't work well for my needs so I removed it, including the split ring, and replaced it with a Key-Bak Mini-Bak Retractable Reel with 36-inch Nylon Cord, Swivel Bulldog Clip and Split Ring for $5.99 from Amazon. That setup works great for attaching the clippers to a tackle bag or clothing.
