Bought the date and DSP 408 to add to my system since it was at such a great price point for what you get. After using it with just the laptop connected to it for a while decided to pull the trigger on the Bluetooth module as well and couldn't be happier. Very easy to install and use and the app is a breeze and allows you to do changes on the fly instead of having the boot up the laptop connect it etc. Definitely would recommend 5 out of 5 stars. Using it in a car audio setup with stock head unit. 2008 Acura TL type S stock HU, Dayton DSP-408, Audio Apex CAB M-165 5CH AMP.

No sound? Seems DOA (Dead on Arrival)? Tech support said unit out of box will have no sound because all volumes are set to 0 initially. To change them I used the opt USB dongle https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FNC6L34/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and Goodle Play Store app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=leon.android.chs_ydw_dcs480_dsp_408) as I have android. I guess with windows, you don't need the bluetooth dongle for your phone if a direct wire is ok. Not sure about that though. App is not super intuitive, until you get used to how they think, so no discouragement just yet, ok! To get sound working, you have to increase several volumes via the app by finding the main volume control, then volume controls at each of the 8 channels one by one and at each of the 4 Input channels. Just kick any volume control up you find, we're just trying to get it working at this point, right? Initial setup to get sound working: 1) Download playstore App and plug in opt usb dongle (at least this is how I did it with android phone and bluetooth successfully paired to phone) 2) With app loaded in phone and USB dongle plug into unit for maybe 30 seconds, open the app. The phone should show a upload progress popup starting within a few seconds and a on screen power button symbol in upper right corner should go from red to green. Has to be green before continuing successfully. If all is good so far, the upload progress popup changes to a success popup after a few seconds. If not, make sure you're still paired to unit via phone's built in bluetooth app and if still no go, remember reboots are your friend. Reboot nit with USB dongle inserted and the with units small power led illuminated confirming phone is still paired. Processes are not super fast, so try to have a little patients. About 60 seconds worth of patience is plenty. 3) Phones app Initial screen should show main volume left/right slider. Slide it right to increase. 4) Scroll down to boxes 1 -> 8 (each representing a channel) and select one of the boxes and selecting each function box below that, increasing any volumes you find. Volume output should respond immediately if full audio is present, no audio..look for more volume controls. It's going to be a input volume, output volume or main volume or you don't have live audio in or the out is not connected. Can touch the RCA centers or click against each other to listen if amp is responding. 5) Continue volume search and increases for each channel individually (8 total) just to get some sound output 6) Voilà, sound through your amp and speaker.....right? 7) No?, darnit...well I tried. Call tech support on the condition they don't criticize my steps, I'm very sensitive you know. 1-800-338-0531 or email at [email protected]. Notes: -If you want to recall some favorite settings from the apps screen using clickable boxes (or by pressing the opt and cool looking wired volume control), then this function is it. This is why there is a Save button, click it then select either [Save] or [Recall]. -If you're hardwired, switch off (move left) the "steaming" slide switch (upper right corner) to prevent usb stream bypass of your wires. -To exit app, click the common looking circle power button icon little power circle icon changing it from green to red (upper right corner) to disconnect app from unit. Unit settings will not change because of the disconnect. If at any time the symbol is red, your not connected and screen changes will not be accurate or saved most likely. This can cause undo hair loss from pull hairs out of your head in frustration. -If background audio noise is heard during pause or quiet sections, consider using a set of Isolation Transformers inline @ at the RCA input Jacks. They are available in increments of 4 transformers good for 4 channels (need two for all 8 input channels) at JacobsParts (AP3054) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00TEED91K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. You probably know, these can't solve all noise issues as noise can have different sources needing different kinds of filters. These are for grounding and dc noise. Noise that usually DOES NOT goes away when the low level RCA amp input is unplugged or noise that follows engine revs most likely need a different filter. Does not support speaker level amp inputs. Wish list- A spatializer/ambience/3D function selectable by channel.

Great product with Crystal clear audio transmissions... Connects immediately and response is very fast!

Works as described but when trying to navigate around with my phone away from the app it makes the outputs mute for a few secs. Figured out a confusing work around where I leave the Bluetooth settings on like media audio it'll connect and then once it's connected I turn the settings off and then I can seemlessly toggle around my other phone apps and make changes on the fly without interrupting the sound.

It seems this was designed to be used in mobile (car audio) environment, and only when significant changes are being made. The range of the Bluetooth is abysmal. It is unusable past 8ft with an iPhone 16 Pro. I generally have to be within 6ft to get reliable operation with the app. Other than that HUGE negative, the adapter seems to work fine. I would have much preferred a WiFi adapter, but I understand this wouldn’t work as well in mobile environment. At a minimum, the Bluetooth module inside this unit should support a greater range. The reliability and performance of the app is also awful. It takes 60-90 seconds for me to go through the process of connecting to a DSP-408! This is absolutely insane when all you need to do is adjust gain. I am not sure if this is a problem with the app, or a problem with the adapter.
