Good quality, does a great job
I bought this to replace a similar Von Haus grass trimmer (pin specific charger broken, company unable to supply separately and not worth the money to replace the whole thing) so decided to upgrade to this Makita one. This is by far and away much better build quality and does a much better job trimming. It's a bit of a faff changing heads as others have said, the instruction pictures are rubbish but once you have the hang of it, easy enough to do although does require loosening screws and flipping the motor so be warned it's not a simple on the go change.Slightly heavy due to the battery at the base but lasts really well. The hedge trimmer does a fantastic job with privet type branches, does struggle a bit more with thicker raspberry cane type branches.Only used once but so far so good and am happy with my purchase.

Excellent tool for awkward areas
Such a handy tool, partner has batteries already so made the purchase choice easy, easy to change the blades once you’ve worked it out, handy for awkward grassy areas and trimming around fixings. Great quality tool.

Makita DUM111ZX 18v Li-ion LXT
Good and well-made product. It isn't easy to change attachments between Grass Shears to Hedge Trimmer, so I just left it as a Hedge Trimmer.

Good buy
Easy to use, good quality. Light weight enough for me and my wife.Used for topiary, its easy to get a nice finish, and easy to shape. Can be used right or left handed.Simple change over of the blade, with easy to follow instructions when doing it for the first time.Would recommend this item.

Value for money, lightweight, fiddly switch between blades
Good tool to have and value for money if you’re already into the Makita family and have the battery. The switchover between blades is very fiddly and a poor design. It cuts grass and hedges well, obviously struggles when you hit an established branch but that’s to be expected.Lightweight even with the battery attached and runs for a long time.Happy with it. Only downside is the swap between blades.

Its a Makita, it does what it says on the box.
AS WITH ANY BATTERY POWER TOOL REMOVE THE BATTERY BEFORE CHANGING BLADES/TOOLS. Its described as tool free blade change but you need a flat bladed screw driver. In the box, grass shear already attached, hedge, shear, grease and instructions. The body has a light weight to it and with the battery attached a nice balance, and its surprisingly quiet in operation. The instructions are OK but if you read them carefully, and watch a YouTube video ( I found one less than 2 mins long ) its really quick and easy to change cutters. A number of people have complained that changing shears is fiddly and awkward but all you have to do is make sure that the drive holes are correctly aligned when you fit the blades to the body, this may involve moving the blades by hand to achieve the correct alignment on the crank whilst gently pressing the blade onto the crank. REMEMBER TO REMOVE THE BATTERY BEFORE STARTING. When you get it right the blade sits perfectly, just one thing, when tightening the screws for the hedge shears just gently nip them tight. A blade change can be done in under a minute!!
