F*cking History: 111 Lessons You Should Have Learned in School

Crude book that does not fulfill its premise
First of all, this book is NOT for children. The coarseness and vulgarity employed by the author is overbearing and totally unnecessary. One premise of the book is that supposedly it tells about historical events that should have been learned in school. However, the vast majority of historical incidents are mostly obscure trivia. Although there are times when the stories to provide some backstory into well-known events in history, that is the exception rather than the rule. But what bothered me the most is that the author seemed inclined to take any historical event and turn it into a tirade of vulgar and coarse language about the event and that became offensive after a while. At the same time I would note that the author doesn't even provide his actual name - he is hiding behind a self-assigned name of "The Captain" (who is actually Kyle Creek).Overall I would have preferred that the author handle the stories in a more honest way. There are a lot of people, places and things in history that are only superficially known by many people and I have read many books that do a good job at exposing some of the lesser known details. But this book disappoints in that it isn't a very good source of interesting information and lands in the ditch instead of the high road.

The only way history should be told
Thank our lucky stars, a worthwhile social media kingpin gets the book deal we've been waiting for! Having purchased the previous collections from this gem amongst the dirt pile of social media influencers, I definitely recommend this as MUST BUY.The Captain once again provides a refreshing look at historical moments you may or may not remember from school, but wont soon forget. You'll find revised stories, as well as new, told in The Captain's recognizable tone of historical intellect a la snark. Pair it with your favorite whiskey, bring it to book club or cry into it with an 8 lb bag of chocolate. Its a sure fire hit for anyone who likes history, witty storytelling or just needs a new book.

Worth every penny, in every format
Like many people, I became aware of The Captain through his social media presence. I vaguely knew that he had written books, but I didn't give much credence to it until I saw a post discussing the upcoming, updated F*cking History. Everyone in my social circle knows of The Captain from social networking. If nothing else, the book should provide a conversation piece because I don't normally read about history unless there's the promise of a paycheck (or the threat of academic failure). I found myself unable to put this down.Full disclosure: I have both the audiobook and the print version. So far.The lessons are long enough to be engaging, but short enough to leave the reader wanting to know more. In between giggle fits, I looked people up. I've also told my child (a recent high school graduate) that he's going to read this book. In the days that I've owned the book, I've finished the print version once and the audiobook twice. It's a pick-me-up in these uncertain times, and on more than one instance an inspiration to get out and DO something.

Entertaining, hilarious and a good pick me up anytime you pick it up.
I've been laughing randomly at this content every day since the first story of this book. In the photo I shared with this review you'll see my friend who couldn't resist flipping through the entire book before I had. She was laughing like a giddy 13 year old boy while simultaneously reading hilarious life-lessons to her teenage daughter. It took her four attempts, through squeals of laughter to pronounce "bone phone" a term brand new to her. Once I finally got my turn with the book I couldn't keep it to myself. I sent photos of entire stories to my sister, Tinder matches, best friend and *almost* my ex boyfriend as well, as it was that good. He didn't deserve the laughs and insight it provides though so I stayed strong ;) Inspired by the lovely ladies in this book, perhaps. I'm recommending this to everyone who needs a gift idea for anyone. I'd imagine your grandmother would actually appreciate the humor and could relate well to the stories. I'm not kidding either. Good stuff.

I'm Reading This Book Twice!
Since reading this book, I now know enough to interrupt almost any overheard conversation with some solid history! This has suddenly made me very popular because everyone thinks I'm smart now. You, too, can be as popular as me if you buy this book! Perfect for anyone with a small attention span because it is witty and each fact is brief and to the point. I particularly enjoy the comparisons to modern life. The Captain is clever, snarky, knowledgeable and FUN!

Nobody beats The Captain!
I can't say enough good things about this book. I bought the audiobook for myself and the paperback as a gift for a friend. The Captain incorporates history with an awesome twist of humor of what we all experience on the daily. I honestly can't stop laughing as The Captain starts off with a positive outlook on being ghosted! LOL This book is a great way to learn a little something with a savage approach and I highly recommend.

BUY THIS BOOK! You will thank me
I follow The Captain on Facebook and instagram and his posts have the ability to make me laugh or just smile, even on the most miserable of day. So when I saw this book I thought, why not.I ordered the book and due to a few delays it arrived as I was getting in my car to drive to the airport, result!I spent the next hour in the airport and the subsequent flight reading this, for the first time! I laughed out loud so much I’m surprised there wasn’t a straight jacket waiting for me when we landed.I have read it again since and a few entries 4 or 5 times. I honestly couldn’t recommend it more!

ADHD Friendly History. Buy this book.
I have ADHD in the worst way. I love history, but I loathe the mundane storytelling that usually comes with it. Kyle, aka "The Captain", has kicked the ass of many otherwise boring historical events, and made them interesting. The short "lessons" are complete with lovely and simple pictures for those of us adults who still need cartoons to absorb whatever the f*** it is we're trying to read. And if I'm being honest his dedication is one of the best I've seen. 12/10 you need this book.

Gem of a book! Fun facts that make you laugh out loud. Brilliant!
Absolutely love this book! As a follower of 'The Captain' on Instagram - his quotes make so much sense, and as he doesn't mince his words, which I can definitely relate to! So, I thought I'd give the book a go and it's better than I expected. It's short history facts really are the things we didn't get taught, and I've probably learned more from this book, than my history lessons at school 25 years ago. Give it a go, you won't be disappointed :)

The Book We All Need.
I've been following the The Captain for a few years via Instagram and Facebook and I absolutely love his Sunday School lesson with a twist ,mixing historical facts with today's society and our day to day life struggle and Now finally I brought the book and it was worth the wait. I couldn't put the book down, pages and chapters of this genius, humorous and intelligent. Most importantly so accurate and definitively helpful in my messed up life ,he's like our Agony Uncle but without the agony.
