How to Rebuild the Small-Block Mopar
R**R
My order came out on time and exactly what I needed.
I’m using the book to see all that may be involved with building a high performance small block mopar . This book was a cut above with clear concise details.

not the best resource for engine rebuilding info
Do not recommend. Ended up using a factory service manual to 'fill in the blanks' for torque values, and other info, not to mention more than one instance of verified incorrect information, including which way the cam retaining plate faces. Could use a LOT more of the general information. It's 'okay', but not really even 'good'.

Best for “backyard mechanics”
This book doesn’t just teach and tell you how to work on a 318 it shows everything from cleaning up the block to the best way to bore the motor out and where to measure, it has spots to put your blocks measurements! I bought this to help me with my senior project, and my magnum 318 is now like it came outta the factory in 1996! Man this book made my 1st gen dodge happy to finally have a v8!

Great book for a noob (me)
I feel a lot more confident tackling this project after reading through the book. I also have a better understanding of engine parts and how they work. I'm a complete noob and this book made things simple enough for me to understand

Excellent for basic rebuild
This book is exactly what I was looking for. It walks you through the process to refresh and rebuild a LA block engine. Nothing fancy, not hot add one, just rebuilding the stock motor. It is very thorough discussing processes and tools and is full of step by step instructions. It includes numerous pictures (black and white) to help guide you. There are many tips and the process are willed through in detail. I would recommend it I you have a motor to rebuild and you are not experienced in engine rebuilding. If you already know LA engines and want to add 50hp this is not the book to tell you how.

Good manual for Magnum engines
Good book with clear instructions and good photos.Focuses on the Magnum engine from the 1990’s. One critique: it does not instruct how to properly install an older LA engine’s timing chain. Which I really needed verified; supposedly the LA motors have #6 at TDC on the compression stroke when the gear marks are at 6 and 12 o’clock? Was hoping this book would confirm. No luck.

Very detailed.
I've been the wrench b*tch on several rebuilds in my youth, but have never performed a rebuild, myself. This book seems to have all the detail I'll need to fill in the gaps in my distant memory, including every detail that I would not have known that would have resulted in a failed rebuild. I'm going to use this book and rebuild a junkyard engine to replace in my truck, then rebuild my truck's engine to put in my Jeep. After that, I'll probably rebuild the Jeep engine and sell it.

Written by a human
Well written by an actual human—does not suffer from the dryness of a lot of technical writing. Love it!
