Waste of Money!
So, let me start by saying that I was looking for a book to learn python basics from a beginners point of view and looking at the positive reviews decided to pay for this and give it a try. Big Mistake and waste of money! This book is complete garbage. It's 145 small pages that would probably fit into 75 normal pages which by itself is not my gripe but just be aware. It's supposed to be a 7 day crash course in Python programming designed for absolute beginners. This claim is utterly false advertising. This book is neither for the beginner nor the advanced. It WILL NOT teach you how to code.I repeat, it WILL NOT teach you how to code. The information in this book is general knowledge about Python you can learn (for free) by googling Python or Wikipedia. Trust me and do not waste your money.I will give you an example of why it's so poorly written for the beginner. In chapter 2 page 39, it is talking about functions. Observe:_doc_:. This is going to return the docstring of the function that you are requesting. How is a begginer supposed to know what a docstring is. This is just one example but the whole book is written this way. It does not explain properly and no examples. Also, I would have imagined there would have been sample code to look at, maybe practice, quiz, etc. Nope. Not or that. All you get is John Russel giving you super general Python concepts that are poorly explained. Honestly, I dont often write reviews but I'm so mad I wasted my time and money on this that I had to warn others not to make the same mistake.I'm a beginner and trying to learn Python, so if there are any legitimate books out there that actually teach you step by step how to code in Python, please share by replying to to this.Do Not Waste your Money on this book!
