Problem Solving and Reasoning
I myself have used CGP books in a number of different ways with various young people through work and have always found them extremely useful, well laid out and gives a boost for students at home from the curriculum they are currently learning. To be honest, I even remember using them myself when I was at school a good few years ago now, they're that well established as a publisher! As a new parent to a little one, I was intrigued by this range aimed at younger students and excited to see what they have to offer and was happy to find the quality and challenges are the same with these books as I've previously used. This one is aimed at 6-7 year olds though they start from 3*. It is an Math based book looking at Problem Solving and Reasoning and is bright, educational and fun. It has easy to understand language and allows 6-7 year olds to practice along with what they are being taught at school with the content being separated into topics that have fun activities and challenges designed to build confidence and boost their knowledge. It allows them to practice their math and also gives them math rules along with puzzles that allows them to use their problem solving and reasoning in context. The topics are split into sections that are clear and inform the user 'How It Works', 'Now Try These' and An Extra Challenge' which I find really useful and positive to ensure correlating to work at school.I really like this book and the fact that you have answers in the back means parents or care givers can also check answers and help with corrections. I know sometimes supporting young ones at home can be daunting for some but with answers supplied you can help encourage your young one with no stress about what is right or wrong. I find these encourage great conversation, especially when completed supported and I look forward to completing this with my little one when he is ready.

Excellent!
The layout is great: easy to follow, with clear instructions. There are a variety of tasks that my 7 year old loved tackling. She does love maths and loved going over the skills that she has been looking at in school. I think £2.98 is excellent value and this book has been a great confidence boost for her.

Problem Solving & Reasoning (Ages 6-7)
I highly recommend these workbooks for home learning and doing 1-1 work at home for practicing schoolwork. The books are well laid out with activities that follow the National Curriculum, there’s colourful illustrations throughout which really do motivate learning. This workbook is aimed at ages 6-7. There’s a range of different activities including adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, measuring, direction, money etcThese workbooks really do build confidence and increase skills which is great for children who may need a little extra help. My daughter finds maths difficult but excels at other subjects. These books are great for sitting down together and going through each activity at our own pace. There’s clear explanations and colourful diagrams at the start of each activity and ‘extra challenges’ at the end of an activity which are great for confidence building and acknowledging achievements. I’d highly recommend these books.

Year 2 Mixed Practice
This book would make a great end of year revision practice for children to apply everything they have learnt throughout the year and apply their knowledge to different problems. It can be used in the summer between Year 2 and 3 to help to reduce the summer dip in memory. Each double page spread covers a different area of the Maths curriculum and provides 4 or 5 problem solving questions. Every page is bright and colourful with a different theme to engage children in their learning and help to bridge the gap between their learning and real life.Year 2 students can sometimes get overwhelmed with word problems if their reading and comprehension is not at the same level as their Maths. I did find this book a little on the wordy side so some students may need support to access the questions rather than support with the topics covered.

Great for a recap or refresher
This is a great maths activity book, very well laid out and age relevant. Some of the activities are a little challenging but there is nothing wrong with that. This book is great as a recap to the school year and also a good refresher for the next school year. The book is quite thin with only 30 pages, only 25 of which have the activities but the pages are full as well as completely engaging and fun. My child likes this and not bad value at £3.50 (at the time of ordering).
