Beautiful and healthy!
I recently went through a total purge of my kitchen, tossing out all things "stainless steel" or "non-stick" and replacing them with La Chamba ware. One thing I puzzled about was coffee: how to make coffee without my beloved "stainless steel" teakettle? I learned that it was only a silver metal teakettle, not *real* stainless. This is my answer to heating water for coffee. I fill it halfway with water and put it directly on my gas burner. I do have to remember to empty it after making the coffee in the French press; it will leak or sweat a bit, and I've gone through all of the seasoning instructions.I've also quit using the dishwasher and the microwave, and mostly only used my microwave for reheating cold coffee. My new solution for that: a glass teakettle that you can put right on the burner. It heats cold coffee very quickly on my gas range, probably quicker than in the microwave.Coffee just tastes better and I know it's healthier with the water heated in La Chamba over an open flame as opposed to stainless steel or an electric teakettle or -- heaven forbid -- in a microwave!

Beautiful authentic chocolate pot!
I'm so excited about this chocolate pitcher! It's so beautiful and well made. Mine arrived with a little circular notch broken into the surface (very minor), it shows the golden sheen of mica in the clay.As for curing it, I was really delighted to make a journey out into the world to find a plantain for curing. This is an authentic Columbian piece, and to know I could connect with it by curing it myself in the traditional way really allowed for slowing down and putting genuine care and love into this vessel that will be serving me so well for many years. I enjoyed the hunt for a plantain, had to make a couple of stops around town and eventually found a little Mexican market that had them. This market had many lovely surprises in it, and I'd never have known that without needing to get a plantain to cure my pot. :)I learned so much in this process, and I encourage anyone bringing these La Chamba pieces into their lives to make the most of this recommended step... You never know what you might discover and learn along the way. :)

We used it for boiling water, works great!
Since its delivery, we have used it daily for boiling water. We do believe it improves the taste of water--same water but after boiling in this clay pitcher, it tastes softer, smoother, and must be healthier as well compare to the stainless kettle we used before. It does require more patience since it takes much longer time to boil up. But it is worthy--nothing can be more important than health and our daily comfort! It doesn't have a lid, we just place a proper size of china plate to cover it while boiling. Works very well.

Very nice jug
I got this to boil water in for hot tea, coffee, hot coacoa etc. It is unique and beautiful piece. I was glad to have gotten it in one piece after having to return several broken clay pieces before. The seller packed the jug really well and put a "fragile" notice on the box - you would think that clay shippers would always do that but they do not! I am very happy with the purchase.
