Tasty treat for vegans, or anyone!
When you can't eat cashews (allergy), oats, corn, or animal products... where do you turn for a quick snack bar? Well NuGo answered. The majority of this bar is rice, which is just fine. There is a bit of sugar though, but it's not super sweet. Basically it's rice, vegan chocolate, sweeteners, and then a few seeds and a touch of oil, salt and cranberries. The ingredients:Rice Protein Crisp (Rice Protein Concentrate and Rice Flour), Crisp Rice (Rice Flour), Semi Sweet Dark Chocolate (Sugar, Unsweetened Chocolate, Cocoa Butter), Crystalline Fructose, Almonds, Tapioca Syrup, Brown Rice Syrup, Organic Agave Syrup, Chicory Root Fiber, Cranberries (Sugar), Rice Protein, Pumpkin Seeds, Flaxseed, Water, Organic Acacia Gum, Flaxseed Oil, Natural Flavors, Baking Soda (Sodium Bicarbonate), Salt, Walnuts.160 calories5g fat27g Carbohydrate4g Fiber13g Sugar9g ProteinNot bad for a between meal snack. And the price is right on Amazon. Cheaper than Whole Foods and they are fresh, not old boxes (like some of the bars I've bought from Amazon). Prime shipping also.I also recommend LaraBars for an even more stripped down and wholesome bar (though many have cashews...). The carrot cake and the chocolate chip brownie LaraBars are amazing!

Absolutely awful
This is quite possibly the worst thing I've ever tasted in my entire life. Even upon first opening the wrapper, I was hit with an unpleasant chemical smell. Very unappetizing. I could barely swallow the first (and only) bite I took. It has a heavy cinnamon overtone, which I think is an attempt to mask the terrible taste of the thing. It is very hard, dry, and tastes like soap combined with three-week-old brown rice. If there was a contest to make a food item that tastes the LEAST like carrot cake, this would win, hands down.I am so disappointed because I've tried other products by NuGo that have been really tasty. I hope I can send this back.

Good bar
I have a few food sensitivities so it's hard to find products with an ingredient list I'm willing to eat. These are a good protein boost and the flavor is good.

Chocolate Dirt Bars
I lovingly refer to these as my Chocolate Dirt Bars. In all honesty, they taste like stale Rice Crispies held together with dirt and coated in fake chocolate. I took one bite of the first bar and set the rest aside at first, it was awful.I am not gluten intolerant, but I bought these because (as a nearly-vegan) I get enough Soy already and wanted to vary my protein sources. I liked that these are dairy- and soy-free, it didn't really matter to me that they are also gluten-free. I bet if I had to eat a totally gluten-free diet, these wouldn't taste as bad. That being said, I would still order these again. After choking down a few bars (hey, I'm not going to let a $15 box of anything go to waste) I got used to the taste. I can't say I *like* them, per se, but they make the perfect dieting nighttime snack. One of these and a glass of almond milk before bed keeps me satiated enough not to run for the cookies at 2am. And, again, they help me vary my protein sources. If you're not on a diet, and you don't have gluten sensitivities, you should probably pass on these. If you're good at *learning* to like foods that are good for you, these may be up your alley.

Taste is always a personal preference but allergens limit your options. This works great for me.
This is the only bar that I have found that is free of my personal allergens. Sometimes the bar is harder than others. Like a lot of allergen free items you have to adjust to the taste or texture. This is one of those items. There are times when a bar is just convenient so even though it is an OK item I continue to keep them on hand. The chocolate is more forgiving them say a lemon flavor also. I wouldn't eat them if they were horrible. They are a heat sensitive item although I have only noticed discoloration as the chocolate will tend to do when exposed to heat. The flavor is not affected. They do get a bit melty also if left out in the hot summer car for example. I don't go on hikes so I don't know how would respond to being in a backpack on a hot summer day in the mountains. with so many allergies it is a great item to have when there is a chance I won't be able to find something I can eat.

Delicious & Allergy Friendly
I have so many allergies, but can actually eat these bars. They are the only nutrition bar I tolerate! No nuts, soy, gluten or dairy! They actually taste good to me and because of my restricted diet feel almost like a candy bar.

does not taste good
these do not taste good, more of like a chocolate rock. Other than that the fiber content is good and a nice booster if you need a little extra help going.

Best gluten-free dairy-free chocolate bar I have had so far
I have not had much luck finding good gluten-free/dairy-free chocolate bars, so I wasn't really expecting much when I ordered these. But I was very pleasantly surprised when they arrived and I tried one ! They actually taste very good, in my opinion, and also have a good texture. While I do eat them at home as a snack, they're really more useful to me when I'm away from home - whether a day-trip or overnight. They're not particularly messy to eat either, unlike some other bars I have tried, which is nice when you are grabbing a quick snack in your car or on a train, etc.At about $2 a pop they're not cheap, and I wish the bars themselves were a little bit bigger, but overall since they are so much better than most other chocolate bars I have tried, I would say they deserve a 5-star rating.
