I am by no means a pro at welding, but these rods work well for me.

I am really impressed with these. I've been welding (all forms) for about 35 years and wanted to try these on a little dual voltage DC* inverter type welder I got for repairs where there is 110-120 volts only. Two wonderful things really surprised me about these rods: (1) they flow and penetrate beautifully even at 90 amps on the little welder, and (2) restricking is very easy -- almost unheard of on 7018's. I'd recommend this rod without the slightest hesitation. *This AC rod works just great on DCEP (the electrode/stinger/rod holder is attached to the + on your machine). If curious, the particular dual voltage (works automatically with 110 OR 220 v) welder I happen to use is the low cost AHP160ST.

AC welding rod 3/32 5 lb. Husband says rod welded really nicely. Worked as it should. Having said all of this, I never hesitate to update my reviews should new info seem useful. Just got back to stick welding, have used wire for 30+ years. Got a new welder for stick since I had farm equipment to fix/rebuild. Got a 3 way 120/240 from HF, and picked up their brand of 5/32" 7018. Hard to strike basically a pain. Got these rods, so much better. Running about 120a for the rods and 1/2" plate seems pretty good. Also learned hit your metal with a flapper and give it a good buff but apparently that's a requirement for the 7018's. Just placed a 2nd order for another 5 lbs to finish up another project.

Nice for what I do around the garage. I'm still trying to learn. I got the metal to weld together so I'm sure a pro could do a lot more with these than I can.
