This might be one of the best rat purchases I’ve ever had! None of our rats (old and young) are able to get through OR over this. It’s expensive, but there isn't a pet gate like this on the market, so it’s worth it. I bought this to quarantine our new rats in the bathroom while we worked to integrate them with the others. This gate was left up with the door open for a couple of months straight - no one ever got out. No one chewed a hole in it. If you have rats, you know that's pretty rare. They are usually persistent and can scale or destroy most barriers, even the tall, plastic small animal play pens. Our place is rat-proofed and all of our boys are free roam, otherwise we may have been more wary about leaving the bathroom door always open. Still, we did not have any issues with them getting out. The plastic on this is LEGIT, and the steel frame is fairly heavy. Be sure to secure it so that it won’t fall on any of your critters! Overall, great quality and it functions well.

Amazing ! Easy installation, took me about 3 minutes. I have a big gap underneath my door, so my ferret would escape my room. I used door 2 door stoppers and a piece of wood and she still was able to get out. This was my last resort & it worked ! She is unable to go underneath this because it has no space under it and it's hardy, so she isn't able to knock it over. My door is shut in the video , but even when it's opened, she isn't able to get out. I would just recommend not leaving anything like a chair nearby because then the ferret would definitely be able to hop over it. I also really like that you can easily remove it and set it up somewhere differently with ease. It's pricey, but it's worth the price to me, especially with multiple ferrets or a crafty ferret lol !

This thing works perfectly. I am not a fan of Marshall as a company but this gate is perfect for ferrets. The ratcheting mechanism can hang up on occasion but it works very well. Price is a bit high though. It's just a few bits of metal and some plexiglass. Should be about half the price.

This tension gate is exactly what we needed to safeguard our ferrets and allows us a comfortable see through barrier! Since their room is directly off the kitchen where we spend much of our time, we can now leave the door open and interact with them while doing other things when not playing with them in their room. I’m 5’2” and I just lift my legs over the gate to go in and out off and on all day. Not a big deal to me. This was so worth it, the value is immense! I will definitely be ordering another one for another space so we can let them fully free roam. Very sturdy and easy to use!

It is a little heavier than a standard wooden gate but that’s because it’s made of metal and plexiglass. It looks great and holds up good. It is a little hard for it to slide close but not too bad. Been using it for several months now. It has rubber stoppers on each side so it will not scratch up the walls and about 2 ft tall. Glad i bought it.

The gate works great for my ferrets. Unfortunately, it is a bit too tall for my five-foot self to step over. You need to raise and lower the bar to make a snug fit. It wasn't a perfect fit, so the gate bent a bit, but I can say with certainty they will not dislodge or jump this one, though a thorough attempt has been made. It also withstands my frequent tripping over it.

This gate is extremely sturdy. I didn’t realize it was made out of metal, which means it will stand up to anything my ferrets throw at it. It is heavy but worth it.

I tried and bought many different gates my theses little guys and they got through every one until now. Rubber stoppers damaged the wall a bit- but that’s probably me making it too tight.

this gate has been a god send for me! having 16 very curious ferrets that are keen to get into everything they can, this is the only gate that can keep them from getting into trouble successfully. absolutely recommend!
