Beautiful vise, shipped fast.
Beautiful piece of equipment, I was surprised how heavy (in a good way) it was. At first I was concerned that clamping pressure would be much less than a Kurt style vise with a wrench but it clamps onto workpieces very well with the manual knurled wheel as opposed to the wrench style tightener. Fit and finish is extraordinary, buy with confidence.

Excellent Value
The vise is well made and holds quite well without having to use a lot of force.

Nice vise, but larger than I expected.
The vise seems to be well made and the screw moves the jaw easily and without any play, but the vise is much larger than I expected it to be. The description says the jaws are 2" wide but in fact, they are close to 2-1/2" wide. The drawing shows them as 63mm wide, which is 2.48" I measure the jaw depth as 1-1/8" rather than the stated 1 inch. I admit I didn't pay a lot of attention to the measurements in the drawing or the other specs listed below. So I have only myself to blame for getting something larger than I intended. I'll use it, but I wish I could find one that was built the same but smaller. I have a Sherline vertical mill and this would be too large to use with it. The product dimensions in the Technical Details are much larger than the vise or even the box it came in, so pay no attention to those. The metric dimensions in the drawing are the ones to go by. The weight is about 8lbs.

Perfect for mini mills
I recently bought a harbor freight mini mill, which I am very happy with. But I needed a vice. I almost went with a typical mill vice. But even the "small" 3 inch mill vices were huge for this mill and would hang off the table awkwardly. This vise works perfectly. The size is just right. I have milled a few things already and could not be happier.

Built like a Sherman tank!
Heavy and robust. Use it on my 4" turn table for my mill. Better than I expected for the price!

GREAT item for the price - Detailed dims in review
Great vise for the money! There seems to be some confusion with the dimensions, so here is what I just measured:Jaw depth = 1.375"Jaw width = 2.877"Jaw opening = 3.206"Square = 0.0005"

Not what was ordered plus a razor
I ordered a 2 1/2 and what I recieved is more like 3 1/2. So nothing seems to be right but what do you expect for this price. For what I need it for it is fine. But when I unwrapped it and started to clean the heavy oil off it I cut both hands. 3 cuts. Because 2 of the edges of the body of the vise are razor sharp, litterly razor sharp. I had to take a fine file and emory to the edge to round it over enough to now cut the heck out of my hand. The jaws do seem to precisely close (I say "seam" because I am just doing it by eye and didnt measure any gaps, etc.). But its enough. Not returning it because I can live with the wrong size, and it was cheap. Next time by American and spend the $200+ it costs for a quality tool.
