Amazon Basics MERV 11 Filters: Solid Performance Without the Premium Price
Amazon Basics MERV 11 Filters: Solid Performance Without the Premium Price I’ve been using these Amazon Basics 20x20x1 MERV 11 filters in my home HVAC system, and overall they’ve been a very dependable option for routine filter changes. I like buying them in a 6-pack because it takes the hassle out of remembering to reorder every couple of months, and the per-filter cost is noticeably lower than the big-name brands at the hardware store. Installation is straightforward. The actual size fits my return slot properly with no bending or forcing, and airflow has remained strong. With MERV 11, these strike a nice balance for my setup — noticeably better dust and pollen capture than basic MERV 5 or 8 filters, but without putting obvious strain on the system. After about a month of use, the filters clearly show they’re doing their job, collecting a visible layer of dust and fine debris. A few things to keep in mind. The cardboard frame isn’t as rigid as some premium filters, and they’re a bit thinner than brands like Filtrete. They’ve held up fine for me during normal use, but I wouldn’t try to stretch them much past the recommended replacement interval. Also, if you have an older or low-powered HVAC system, MERV 11 may be more filtration than you need — in that case, a lower MERV option might make more sense. Bottom line: These Amazon Basics MERV 11 filters are a practical, budget-friendly choice that deliver solid filtration and good airflow for regular HVAC maintenance, as long as you stick to timely replacements and don’t expect premium-brand rigidity.

Perfect and Budget Friendly
These filters are a practical, budget-friendly option for routine HVAC maintenance. Amazon Basics MERV 5 filters are designed for basic dust and debris capture, and they do that job well. They help reduce lint, dust, and larger airborne particles without restricting airflow, which is important for older systems or homes where efficiency and airflow matter more than high-level filtration. The fit is accurate to the listed actual size, and installation is straightforward. Having a 6-pack on hand makes it easy to stay on schedule with filter changes, which is one of the most important things you can do to protect your furnace and AC system. These are not meant for allergy control or fine particle filtration, and they don’t claim to be. What they offer is reliability, good airflow, and solid value—especially for households without pets, smokers, or severe allergy concerns. If you want an affordable, no-frills filter to keep your HVAC system running smoothly, this pack is a smart, hassle-free choice.

These air filters are a solid, no-nonsense win. Perfect fit, easy install, and they do exactly what they’re supposed to do by keeping the air clean without restricting airflow. Great quality for the price, and the multi-pack makes staying on top of replacements effortless. Reliable, affordable, and zero drama. Would absolutely buy again.

They seem just fine... UPDATED, the very good
First the downside- The filters do NOT have a MERV rating on them. They are not individually wrapped. The flow direction is not marked, so you have to THINK about the direction of flow. The 4 star rating is because of lack of MERV markings. Now the good- They do look to be well made. Better quality then the big box home improvement store. The cardstock around the filter feels better, corners glues in place better. The filter material itself, has more pleats, and seems like the same material. The filter material seems to be held in place to the frame better. They fit right into my filter slot, same thickness. The filters looked clean even without the plastic wrap. So, for me, I don't care about individual wrapping IF I'm buying something in bulk, better for the environment. I guess I have to just trust it's MERV 11. But I have to say we have an older furnace that's like 85% a higher MERV will probably just put a strain on air circulation anyway. Plus we have 2 cats so we change the filter monthly. So when I went to change my old filter, again MERV 11 from big box, THAT filter was actually sliding down in it's own cardstock frame, allowing unfiltered air to pass through to the furnace & A/C condenser. GREAT, more cleaning... I went to the Amazon basic filter for cost, after I read a few (not so good) reviews, I thought it couldn't be worse than the big box store. AND Amazon was way less expensive then the other place. First impression is they seem just fine, IF I had allergies or other issues, I might not be inclined to use these. BUT I think for most people these would be fine, and economical. IF this fails in 30 days or less, I'll update. UPDATE : No the didn't fail, actually the seem MUCH better than the big box brand we been using, and there is an arrow for the flow direction, it's kinda small and I missed it.

Clean Air and Clear Nose
Works! Wished I saw this before I went to home depot. Not only is it cheaper, but you get more and strong quality variant compared to the ones I saw at home depot. My home feels clean. 3 cats and 1 big dog that shed hair like no tomorrow. Even with them here, my noise feels clear. I had always thought it was an air purifier that would fix that issue, but no. It’s the actual air filter. Thanks to the MERV11 it handles all those extra pesky issues with ease. Highly recommend get this for anyone in need of stocking up and high quality at the fraction of the price.

Simple, affordable filters similar in quality to the no-name ones you find at home reno stores. Reasonably built, thinner cardboard shell that still does the job, and no defects noted although one was bent a little. Merv 5 is fine by me as I typically use Merv 6.

I have been using Filtrete filters for years but sorry 3M you have become too pricey. These are of very slightly lower quality. They are about 1/8" thinner than Filtrete and very slightly more "flimsy" but they seem adequate . I will check to ensure they do not bow out under air pressure, but they they do have a metal mesh for support unlike some less expensive filters I think they will do the job well but I will be careful not to try to squeeze more than 3 months out of each one. postscript: I had another close look at the filters comparing them with a Filtrete. The frame size of 16" x 25" filters is exactly the same. There appeared to be one fold less in the Amazon filter which slightly reduces the filtration area. However, the Amazon filtration material actually seemed better in that it was more uniform on all my filters. The Filtrete one seemed to have small areas all over where it was slightly thinner. They were clearly visible when it was held up to let light shine through. I would also withdraw my "flimsy" comment. The cardboard cut outs in the Filtrete were slightly larger and pressing on the filtration material revealed it was better restrained in the Amazon filter. Bottom line, I am pleased with the Amazon product. Any differences between them and the industry leader are negligible and inconsequential, and so they represent value for the money.
