SHOP AND COMPARE JUKEBOXES BEFORE THIS MAJOR INVESTMENT OF YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY!
The Crosley Jukebox looks just ok. I went on line and looked at several Jukeboxes. Like most folks, I'm simply in love with the Wurlitzer 1015 model. I knew I wanted a BRAND new version of that for a few reasons: It's new and has a warranty, it plays CD's which play WAY more songs than an original Wurlitzer would play with records, no maintenance required ect. BTW, a fully restore Wurlitzer 1015 will cost you over $20,000. It only play's 78 RPM Records and only 24 selections (Records) in all. Won't play the "B" Side. After narrowing it down it came down to this Crosley Slimline and the Rockola CD8 Bubbler. It became obvious going with the Rockola was the best choice. Here's why: THE SAME FACTOR: Both have the original design of the 1015. Being Wurlitzer went out of business, these companies are taking the EXACT blueprint and making replica Wurlitzer 1015 like Jukeboxes. They both have nice lights, the Crosley does have a unique lighting package that offers several settings. When talking with the Crosley representative, most prefer the setting that the Rockola has and was most like a Wurlitzer. So I could get that from the Rockola model. They both have the bubbler tubes and nice chrome pieces. Both have the original Walnut finish. Both offer Bluetooth. SO NOW THE DIFFERENCES: PRICE PRICE PRICE! I purchased the Rockola at under $7000, included shipping and a working coin slot. CD's: The Rockola plays 100 CD's that looked like more like a record flipping over than the Crosley did. The Crosley plays 80, and looks nothing like an original type jukebox. Also, the Rockola has a spinning mechanism that just WOW's folks. So I can easily have over 1500 songs on my jukebox. The COMPANY NAME: Both companies have been around for a very long time, but Rockola was hanging right there with Wurlitzer and outlasted them. Crosley is more known for other things such as cheap record players, in which I own one I purchased on Amazon. THE SOUND SYSTEM: Look this up and you will see the obvious difference. Rockola has a 650 WATT Amp and some extras. When I hooked up 4 speakers, I was blown away with a nice quality and louder sound than what Crosley offers. THE CABINET: While Crosley boast a thinner cabinet, they only cut 6 inches off the back. If I was gonna have an original looking one, I had to have the same exact cabinet. This is why Rockola could put the revolving CD mechanism in their model. That should mostly cover everything. Wasn't a tough decision once I started weighing out Pro's and Con's. I ordered my Jukebox through the National Jukebox Exchange located up in New York. They sell both new and used refurbished jukeboxes. The folks up there were very helpful, friendly and very knowledgeable. The owner had told me that the Crosley one was cheaply made. But again, it was my research that lead me to buy the Rockola. I had planned to buy the Crosley. After research, the Rockola was so obviously the right choice. Those folks in NY were also helpful in leading me to the software (Low Profile Software/They Also sell the cards you need) to buy to create my selection title cards that go in the display rack that show what selections to play. Oh and that was yet another thing I liked was how those cards display over the Crosley ones and look more original. Also, I found a company that sells reproduction parts called Victory Glass out of Iowa. I ordered a Wurlitzer Name Plate to replace my Rockola one. Now I really feel I went back to the 50's. It is a crazy process to get it in, but well worth it. There are many decals out there as well to turn your Rockola or Crosley 1015 type more into looking like a Wurlitzer. Good Luck in a very big purchase decision as this is a LOT of money to spend. But it is a investment that I'm happy I made. One last note: Amazon offers the Crosley Rocket Jukebox. Very impressed with this. Also, Crosley has a Rocket Jukebox that will be released later this year that does play (70) 45 RPM Records, front and back, that looks just like the Rocket. Not offered on Amazon yet, but maybe once it starts sells. This particular jukebox to me, whether CD or Record seems to be the best Crosley is offering right now. Happy Jukeboxing!
