Tarot del Toro

As someone who is a huge fan of Guillermo del Toro, I absolutely love this deck! I also came to tarot from reading normal playing cards, so I'm used to and like pip decks. The card stock is not the best, but it's not the worst either; it feels like it will hold up to regular handling. Onto the artwork, which is adorable and very charming! The courts and majors each depict a quirky illustration of various characters from Guillermo's movies. As mentioned already, this is a pip deck, so the rest of the minors are illustrated only by the the discs, blades, goblets and wands. For that reason, this might not be a great choice for people who are very new to tarot, but that said, if you love the deck and it calls to you, it's totally possible to learn on a pip deck. The booklet is not very detailed, but there are so many videos, websites and books out there to help you learn tarot, it's not much of an issue. To finish, the packaging is also very nice. The box is sturdy, comes with a ribbon for easy removal of the cards and is beautifully decorated. All in all, this is a gorgeous deck and a must have for Del Torro fans!

This tarot takes the traditional tarot deck and pairs it with the worlds of filmmaker Guillermo del Toro. The director himself was directly involved and it shows - the attention to detail is brilliant. Artist Tomas Hijo really brings the cards to life in his unique style and there are lots of small - and large - references to del Toro's films. The minor arcana do not have fully illustrated "number" cards in the way that some decks do, they are more in the playing card style, but all "court cards" and the whole major arcana have complete paintings. All cards are fully explained in the accompanying booklet. A great purchase - grab one while you can as they seem to be selling out even ahead of publication!

The tarot is absolutely gorgeous and well made, it is only a pity that the meaning of the cards is so shallow and even inexistent for the minor arcana. You can refer to the Internet for that, so it's still worth it.

Just opened my deck now and disappointed to see the 4 of wands is ruined - looks like the cardboard got folded over at some point and went through the press this way. Somehow it still wound up in the deck despite this glaring fault. Also a couple other cards have nicks on the edges. A real shame as the artwork is absolutely gorgeous

All cards arrived in a POOR condition! All bent up and peeling! Not worth the money

Absolutely lovely set.

Major cards are great, but nowadays it feels a waste to not carry on the artwork to the minor cards. Also the guide book pages went out of sequence a couple of times. Not the most expensive deck, and it shows.

C'est plus un coup de coeur à ce niveau là mais un coup de foudre ❤️ Qualité des cartes au top, illustrations fidèles au style, terrifiantes et fascinantes, le coffret est beau, résistant, épais, décoré, le livret (en anglais) détaillé. Ce tarot est un petit bijou, peut pas évident pour les débutants mais moi je suis plus que convaincue, il fait partie de mes préférés !

Diciamo che quando sono usciti questi Tarocchi c'era già la fila fuori! Io li ho trovati molto belli, un po' sopra le righe, e con un design affatto scontato. Avendo io la tendenza al collezionismo, ho subito fatto il confronto con altri mazzi, ma credetemi non c'è traccia di similitudini. Sono unici. Punto. Il solo fatto che siano ideati da Gullermo del Toro (di cui adoro il film di animazione "Il Libro della Vita), è una garanzia. Colori decisi, tratti decisi e tutta l'arte dell'artista Tomàs Hijo in un mazzo senza uguali.

Ich habe mir viel Zeit genommen, richtig schöne Karten zu finden. Es hat sich aber bezahlt gemacht; Dieses Kartendeck ist tadellos. Es fühlt sich gut an, ist liebevoll gestaltet, hat das gewisse 'Etwas'. Die Farbgebung gefällt mir sehr gut und passt gut zum grunsätzlichen Zeichenstil. Wenn ich sie nicht verwende, steht die Box im Regal und macht auch da eine gute Figur.
