I have been using over-the-earmuffs type protection products for over 25 years. About 5 Years ago, I bought Walker Earmuffs. The Walker earmuff came highly recommended from the Ranger Master and fellow Instructor from the San Bernardino County Sheriffs Department. I have preferred ear muffs and audio headphones that go on the outside of my ears. I never liked hearing protection or audio headphones that go inside the ear. Early this year, I bought Apple’s Airpods and loved them. So, I started to research inside the ear hearing protection for shooting. The Axil ad kept popping up on various feeds that I followed. I finally decided to purchase the Axil GS Extreme hearing protection. I ordered the Axil GS Extreme on desertcart. Shipping was fast and easy. The box arrived, and I started to questions my decision because the package was so small. The small box is elegant, has a carrying case, various earbud sizes. The product was securely packed with all the paperwork to connect the Bluetooth feature to your phone or device. I quickly set up the Bluetooth on my phone and was able to listen to music instantly. My wife tried to talk to me I couldn’t hear her. I couldn’t wait to see if it provided the same silence on the range while speaking to my students. The Axil GS Extreme was easy to set up and adjust to my ears to provide the best hearing protection. On the range, I was able to talk to students on the live-fire range and still block out people shooting around us. The Axil GS Extreme was comfortable to wear and prevented the sweat around my ear from the Walker earmuffs. The adjustment on the Axil provides individual comfort. I love the ability to recharge the battery in the Axil over the Walker hearing protection that required 2 AAA batteries. Axil can easily be charged by USB on the way to range in the car. I no longer have to purchase AAA batteries. I kept trying to find something negative about the Axil GS Extreme, but I couldn’t find anything negative. The Axil is aimed at avid shooters. I will see how the Axil will do for my hiking adventures. I love how stable Axil is in my ears over the Apple Airpods. Axil GS Extreme is user-friendly. This product is made of high-quality materials and is well worth the money. I wish the right and left ear markings were imprinted a little bigger. I had to put on my reading glasses to see them, but nothing would keep me from using the Axil GS Extreme. Review: Performance that’s hard to beat at this price point - After two weeks of use, I must say that I’m quite pleased with the AXIL GS Extreme Ear Buds. Not only do they come in at a price point that’s lower than their competitors, but they work! During my use on the range, my experience was pleasant and the included tips provide an adequate seal. While you can use the silicon tips, I would strongly recommend that you use the foam tips for hearing protection while on the gun range. Also, this model works great for streaming Bluetooth audio from a mobile device. I wore these earbuds on several flights and found that the audio quality is quite good, and they are exceptionally comfortable even during extended use. The audio enhancement capabilities of this model are also very impressive. Truthfully, the level of enhancement and clarity is something you typically only expect from hearing protection that is two or three times the price. I also used these ear buds when cycling and they performed well at buffering wind noise. Overall, I don’t think you can go wrong with this brand or this model ear pro. They’re stylish, they’re comfortable, and they work!

Too much out of place noise
Not as good as I hoped for

Barely functional and dangerously ineffective at sound attenuation.
I bought these before reading the reviews. Unfortunately, they're every bit as bad as other reviewers have noted and down right dangerous to use as hearing protection. As a firearms instructor for a government agency, I was looking for something to supplement my over-the-ear headset on particularly long, sweaty days. On powerup, I immediately noted the loud, constant background hiss other reviewers mentioned (hardly "studio quality"). Bluetooth syncing was fairly simple and seemed to work, but with quite a bit of feedback, static, and skipping audio. As I didn't much care about Bluetooth functionality, I turned this feature back off and concentrated on the noise attenuation. With the power off and foam ear pieces inserted (rolled and held in place as deep as I dared while they expanded to seal), I noted that quite a bit of ambient sound was still coming through. A frightening amount. Like, more than my non-hearing protection cheap headphones allow through. Then I turned them on and found they performed like some of the cheapest headsets I've ever worn, amplifying ambient sounds with a cheap, tiny feel. I didn't experience any feedback or echo, but the audio quality was horrible. Some preliminary testing (swapping between my over-the-ear headset and these) showed disturbing results; these appear to actually amplify painfully loud sound (even on the lowest possible volume setting) with no cutoff or attenuation what-so-ever. These are absolutely unsafe for shooting, even outdoors. I promptly returned them and was offered a refund by Amazon. The claims made by the manufacturer as to sound attenuation capability and the claimed 85 dB cutoff appear to be completely fabricated.
