Corrupts Drives
Originally, this was a 1 star review. The reason, because the enclosure would loose power and corrupt my drives in a random manner.Eventually it became less random and I figure it was when the drives went to sleep. I blamed it on the windows power plan hard disk settings. (Which never gave me any issues with any other enclosures before), so I changed my power profile settings to keep drives awake all the time. Interestingly that solved the problem, but the drives would still go to sleep after 10 min.I figure (although not confirmed) that the enclosure has it's own sleep mode in the firmware, and it was not working well with the sleep settings on windows. Maybe one was tramping the other, maybe the enclosure had the drives active and windows would turn them to sleep corrupting them in the process?I don't know, I just know that after that fix in the power plan, my issue was fixed. I've run my own tests, power the enclosure on and shutting it down in different situations, and it's all working fine.I still lost my data thanks to Orico though.

Fantastic craftsmanship, impractical function, unreliable
The craftsmanship and quality of materials used in this HDD enclosure are first rate. It is easy to install drives and the enclosure is instantly recognized by Windows 10. My problem, however, is that the drives shut themselves down after only a few minutes due to the 10-minute auto-sleep feature on the enclosure. They can still be seen by Windows after this but take ~10 seconds to spin back up and be accessed. These delays can really add up! Further, it is probably healthier for an HDD to spin continuously rather than constant stopping and starting. If Orico corrects this problem then this enclosure would be the best on the market. Until then my advice is to look elsewhere.UPDATE: After one year of use the Orico HW Raid Manager software has kept the drive spinning without 10-minute time out. However, the drive permissions were lost at different times for both installed drives and I was unable to recover them without spending $110 on EaseUS software. Stay away from Orico!

Lost data on hard drives
Your mileage might vary - this drive worked properly the first 4 times I used it (just as a backup), but after having spent 3 hours transferring data to a drive in this enclosure, the enclosure lost the formatting of both drives and converted it back to a raw format. Yep, that means I have to reformat the drive to get it to mount again, which means I just lost all of my data. I'm not the only one with this problem, there's another review with the same story. I was using a Seagate 8tb drive as well as a previous 1tb macbookpro drive in that enclosure. Needless to say, I'm returning this product and will try my luck with a different multi-bay enclosure.

Info - If one HD in a 5 bay box goes bad
Brought two of these for 9 hard drives. The "primary one" start acting up - dropping out, all the drives vanishing from Windows 10. Discovered one of the 5 drives had gone bad and that caused the 5 bay unit to fail. Once I removed the bad drive - it was fine. This means that this 5 bay box and I guessing most of this type are in Series. If one goes unit fails as opposed to bypassing it. Just heads up.

Hard drives lost formatting (and data)
Looked good and easy to install - but...Used it with one 4.0TB WD Black and one 6.0TB WD Red.Twice initialized a GPT partition on each and formatted them. Twice the unit lost the formatting on both drives (simultaneously) within a couple of days and returned both to RAW status. Returned the unit.
