Great water bottle, sterilises water on the go.

The LARQ Bottle has exceeded my expectations in both design and functionality. What makes it stand out is the built-in UV-C LED technology that helps keep the bottle (and your water) clean by neutralizing bacteria and odors. It’s a clever feature that gives real peace of mind, especially when traveling or refilling from less reliable sources. The self-cleaning mode is easy to activate and means the bottle stays fresh without constant scrubbing. Charging is simple with a USB cable, and the battery lasts surprisingly long on a single charge.

I bought this bottle in June 2020. I liked the design and the self cleaning mechanism. However, after a year the paint on the inside of the cap is starting to peel off. It seemed this was due to the water on the inside which makes the paint swell up. Little bits of paint were then getting into the water inside the bottle which is a real health concern. If you look at the photo big chunks then came off. This looks to be a design fault, i.e. why is there blue paint on the inside of the cap.? I only had the bottle for a year but am disappointed that this happened and means I can't use it anymore. I contacted LARQ but after much back and forth and initially promising they would sent me a new cap they said I bought the bottle from an "unauthorised retailer", i.e. I bought the bottle of Amazon marketplace and not directly from them. They did not admit that this was a serious health risk or design flaw and in the end only offered me a 35% discount on a new purchase. A new cap would have been £40 after applying the discount. Very disappointing. Given I paid £100 for this bottle I must say this was not worth the money.

I have been using the bottle regularly for over three weeks now and there is definitely no need to clean it - the cleaning system works perfectly and seems to be safe, fast and silent. Did not notice that water has a different taste and was really pleasantly surprised for how long the bottle keeps the warmth if you pour in something heated. Also, dropped it on the floor already a few times and still everything works properly so it is clearly highly durable. Love the color and the design - overall quite satisfied with the bottle and the experience.

Here are my comments as a professional microbiologist. We bought this bottle primarily because we're off to Mexico where drinking water quality is highly unreliable. Even bottled water can be seriously contaminated with microbes in this country. It's not supposed to exceed 500 culturable E. coli-like cells ('coliforms') per 100 ml of water but one study found 23,000 coliforms per 100 ml. The bottle is nicely designed - sufficiently streamlined so as not to get snagged on stuff in backpacks and probably robust enough to survive a few knocks as it's mostly made of steel. When all is said and done, however, it's just a sturdy vacuum flask with a UV lamp built into the stopper. It's claimed that the UV light 'neutralizes up to 99% of bacteria'. This sounds impressive but if you were unlucky enough to start with bottled water that had 23,000 coliforms in 100 ml (see above) then you'd still ingest more than a couple of hundred after the bottle had done its UV zapping. Bear in mind that microbes such as E. coli can double in number in around 20 minutes under optimal conditions so UV irradiation reduces - but doesn't eliminate - microbe contamination. The other concern is the power of the UV lamp in the bottle, which LARQ doesn't state. Disease-causing microbes such as Cryptosporidium and Giardia are covered in layers that protect them from low power UV lamps. This means that they might not be inactivated by the water purification system used in this bottle. In short, this bottle is better than nothing but LARQ's rather hyped claims need to be treated with a hefty pinch of salt.

I am very satisfied with this purchase - both the order process and the delivery went smoothly, and the bottle is really good. I tested it by leaving the water in for a day and turned the self-cleaning on the next morning. It didn't have any weird smell (which usually happens in my other reusable bottles). The isolation works well, holds my water cold the whole day. The price is higher but it is worth it for the quality and style that you get.

I’ve had this bottle less than a week and have used it for cold water only (this insulated version can take hot water, but I haven’t tried that yet). I just tried to open the bottle, but it was really hard to unscrew. When I managed to open it, I took a drink and tried to replace the lid, but I couldn’t. On further inspection, the grey rubber/silicon seal had unseated and turned itself inside out. It took quite a lot of persuasion to get it back in place. Not good, from a bottle costing £118!!! I am thinking of returning the product but I’ve discarded the box now so it’s probably going to cause hassle.

Mine broke down within a month it never charged or worked again and the lid is stuck i can never open it and it’s past the return time

This is my favorite water bottle I have ever purchased. Right out of the box when you pick it up it feels premium in the hand. The instructions are easy to understand which is something I was concerned about but it's super easy. Charges fairly quickly. It is micro-USB and not USB-C which is a bummer but it's all good. Mainly because a charge will last you several weeks based on use. The bottle itself is beautiful and fits in the water pouch of my day bag like a glove. For me, it's one of the purchases that make you go "why have I been using anything but this?" I was also shocked at how cold the water stayed after a full day of running around. The water by the end of my day was still surprisingly cool and crisp. I might have to get their water pitcher for the fridge.

J'ai acheté cette bouteille pour m'aider a boire plus d'eau. J'ai 52 ans et j'arrive de peine et de misère a vouloir en boire. Pourtant je bois du jus fait avec cet eau mais j'ai toujours eu ce problème. Et de me dire que ça tue les germes ça m'aide a en boire. J'aimerais aussi m'acheter l'autre version avec le filtre et l'application mais comme elle sont chère ce sera peu être plus tard. Pour l'instant je ne peu que commenter celle ci. Points positifs: Très belle bouteille assez légère. Je suis habitué a plus lourd. Les deux teintes sur la bouteille font qu'elle est vraiment très belle et qu'elle semble luxueuse avec le nom Larq gravé au laser c'est vraiment chic. La bande lumineuse est géniale si vous ne vous servez pas de la bouteille verrouiller la lumière. Pour se faire maintenez 5 secondes le doigts sur le bouton au centre du couvercle et quand il y aura deux flash blanc c'est verrouiller. Faite la même manoeuvre pour déverrouiller. Pesez 1 coup sur le bouton pour un nettoyage de 1 minutes 2 coups consécutifs pour le gros mode de 3 minutes. Gardez le livret noir on vous expliquent tout de A a Z il est très pratique. Certain anglaise et française. Et un mega plaisirs a déballer. Point faible jusqu'à maintenant concerne la prise. Dommage qu'elle ne soit pas standard comme les téléphone. Elle utilise le vieux modèle et ce sont ces model qui finissent par briser. On verra dans le temps mais je vais en prendre soin.

This is my second bottle. Bought the first over a year ago and have not had any problems with smelly bottles since then. Got this one to get a smaller size.
