The photos are a bit misleading, especially since the actual dimensions of the devices are not given anywhere in the product description. As you can see in my photo, the base, the arm and the dial are all smaller than usual. The arm reaches only 4" from the base. The base is only 1" wide and its magnet is not really strong enough to need a switch. It is barely enough to hold it to the fridge. Magnetic bases I have used in the past were at least twice as big, and could not be pried free without switching the switch. The dial is only 1.125" in diameter. These devices advertised here are all reasonably well made and will probably function to measure things to a 10 micron level of precision. They are worth the money if you do not mind their tiny size and weak magnet.
