Our seven year old daughter started using this Little Giraffe Luxe Blanket in pale pink as a newborn. She still sleeps with it every night. It is her "comfort object." I ended up buying an additional one for when the other was in the wash. This is my favorite style of little giraffe blanket. It is the softest and silkiest that little giraffe makes. I think it holds up better to washing and drying than the chenille version. If you dry the chenille version in the dryer, it is no longer very soft and rather bumpy. We wash my daughter's luxe blankets in our front loader washer on hand wash or a gentle cycle. Then we hang it up to dry. This has keep it much closer to its original, luxurious softness. We did accidentally dry the first one we bought. It is still soft, but my daughter prefers the one that has not been dried in the dryer. It is just a touch softer. I know spending this much on a blanket might seem extravagant. But this is not an ordinary blanket. This is much, much softer and cushioning than a minky blanket. There is nothing else like it on the market. We just purchased another one in cream for my newborn daughter. I love snuggling her in it. It has survived Disneyland and a trip to Europe. It helped keep her warm on the planes. She uses it to sleep with all year round. We also used it in the stroller all the time. Except for extremely hot summer days. But she still wanted it in the car with her no matter the temperature. If you are looking for a lovely baby gift, there is nothing better. Parents and children will find it difficult to put down.

Now..strange as it may be. My GF and I (late 20's) both still have a blanket or pillow from our youths. Her's was a bit of a symbol from her father that she didn't really know and she cherished it as such. But, it came to a point of disrepair and it needed to be retired as it was so tattererd it couldn't be used to sleep with. I searched all over for a replacement and there were many fuzzy sort of baby-blankets out there. I did find some soft ones, but they looked flimsy and poorly made as they were intended for use with a baby and likely not expected to be kept for long. This is perfect! IT'S INCREDIBLY SOFT and the silk border is a nice touch for added comfort while snuggling. The 29x35'' is quite a bit larger than I had expected when actually getting it in your hands, but is just the perfect size for someone to cuddle with. looks like it will last well and really is a wonderful blanket. It's expensive no doubt, but if this is intended to be more than a short term blanket, I'd definitely recommend it for children or even adults!

My daughter was so adamant in wanting me to buy this specific baby blanket. All the hype was a past phenomenon it appears. Sadly, there have been more negative reviews in recent years on Amazon. She received an obviously shipped out, opened, and possibly washed, then put back into the bag as if someone had wadded it up to send back. She was so disappointed. So, I told her to return it and try one more time with a replacement. Who knows, maybe she just might be a rare positive customer. The company needs to return to its original core mission to create and sell a top-quality baby blanket. It appears they sold out to cheap foreign labor and are ruining their brand with poor-quality blankets. There should never be poor-quality baby products, ever.

Little Giraffe offers the very best baby blankets. Soft and lovely, your baby will totally be hooked on these. They are pricy - but they are a great gift. I use one to line the bassinet - way better than a sheet. I use one to cozy him into his carseat - less bulky and easier than the buckle in sherpa seat warmer. I use another on the couch where he sits with his siblings. How do I have so many? Gifts. Good friends give great gifts! And one is a hand me down - still cozy as ever. Definitely an awesome gift for a newborn. Only caution: new blankets are slippery b/c they are so soft . . . make sure you dont swaddle your baby and pass him or her around in it - you dont want him slipping out of it!

I've owned the full-sized Giraffe at Home throw for several years now and its quality is unsurpassed -- but it's huge and heavy and not conducive to hot summers or dragging from room to room (plus my husband steals it all the time.) I have a thing for small, portable blankets lined with silk (yes, I'm an adult with a security blanket) so when my old baby blanket was put to pasture, I decided to go for mini version of the throw I already loved. All I can say is that as a blanket enthusiast I've never experienced anything as high quality as the Giraffe line. I bought the chocolate color and it's exactly what I wanted. It has that lush feel with soft satin but is not too heavy for hot summer nights. I cuddle up with it every night and always take it on vacation. I'll never be able to settle for anything else, and the first thing I'm going to do when we match for adoption is buy a second one for our baby. As my mother passed the love of silky blankets onto me as a child, so shall I carry on the tradition.

I have purchased “Lil Giraffe for most of my 11 grandchildren and got this one for a friend’s first grandbaby. They are the softest, longest lasting keepsake baby blanket around. Pricy, but worth it.

When this blanket arrived, I wanted to keep it for myself! It's delightfully soft and plush and has a wide band of pink sateen along the edge which just sets it apart from some of the other baby blankets out there. The size is quite generous too, about 3 feet along the longest side. I don't know whether washing the blanket would affect the softness or depth of the pile but I would imagine that it would be fine if no fabric softener is used. I'd be delighted if someone gave me such a nice blanket, so it's definately 5 stars.

Love the blanket. Absolutely soft, and gorgeous. I received the blanket over 2 weeks after the expected date; however, totally worth the wait!
