Easy to read- difficult to do
It's well written, however in trying the actual exercises on my old lap top they didn't work.

My review has better info than this book.
I had low expectations and this book still let me down. It is only 9 chapters long and the first reference to a hacking tool is in chapter 6. On top of that the author recommends Backtrak linux. I believe this was replaced by Kali about 5 years ago. Save your 15 dollars. Download Kali and watch YouTube videos. Take an old pc and turn it into virtualization server using vaporization or one of the many free hypervisors. Try to put as much ram as you can. Memory is more important than you for virtual machines. Download Web Goat or Damn Vulnerable Web App or Metasploitable so you have a hacking target. Learn about brute force password attacks. Learn how to use NMap to scan machines. It is also good if you need to send test traffic other than ping. Set up a squid proxy. This is the original "man in the middle". But a book on linux administration. Buy a Raspberry Pi 4 and text most of this out. But do not waste your money or time on this book.

Bad Book. Less than basic. Step by step of what exactly?
That book is ridiculous. The font size and line spacing remind me of when I was a young student and I didn't know what to write in a paper, so i used font size 30 and line spacing 2, just to fill the pages. It's ridiculous. The writing, oh my god the writing. The writing, oh my god. How did this book get published even?? How??A drunk baby can write a better book. I'm not even kidding. This book is so short it's funny and sad at the same time. Step by step, he covers SQL injections in 3 lines. I mean, 3 lines. For the entire subject of SQL injection. People get a degree to learn hacking. No, not needed. Just read those 3 lines and you are ready to hack the NSA.I'm sorry, I just realized I referred to this collection of pages as a book the whole time. I would like to apologize to all books.I googled "How to give something less than zero stars on Amazon. I couldn't find a way. So here:-9999/5 stars!

Not worth the read.
Book is a bunch of bullet points and fairly worthless unless you know absolutely nothing about computers.

This book is for beginners.
I read this book hoping ng to learn to hack, but as i read it i extremely soon realised it wad just very simple basics of the types of hackers and so on. I would recommend this book to beginers.

Not worth it.
Uninformative, badly written, lazy, boring... It's hard to pinpoint what was my least favourite thing about this book when I have so much to choose from. Save your money and just Wikipedia the word "hacking."

Sucks
Poor language and far from "step by step". Probably authored by some Indian Youtube guy and not Mr.McKinnon.
