A solid plastic/child/toy instrument
My rating is for what this product actually is per the manufacturer, a plastic clarinet for a Child, not a "real"/substitute clarinet. I am a musician (other instruments) currently disabled with *extremely* weak chest muscles. I am utilizing this as my rehab and can safely play while in bed and set it aside anywhere without worry of damaging it. It is light, easy to use, and sound quality is surprisely decent for what it is. Everything you need is included. A few cons: -Ended up purchasing a silk swab; the included swab is too thick. My first swab broke and became lodged inside; took several extremely tedious hours to remove it. The manufacturer sent me a replacement swab but it is the same cloth which takes careful maneuvering to pull through (no child would be doing this). -Some rough edges. Nature of plastic manufacturing of small parts but I can image a child getting cut. Should not be a problem during normal playing of instrument. -No issues with the reeds itself but finding additional ones may be a challenge as they are not normal reeds. The manufacturer has a free downloadable book, Play It Today, which is great to get started for an older child or adult and covers quite a bit; for a very young child, it may be too advanced. I also have Windstars 2 (not normally free). It's quite basic and likely good for a young child, the intended audience; an adult can skip it. I have recommended this company to my friends with young children.

Great working instrument for young kids
Working instrument that is relatively childproof. I bought 2 from CacheSaver so my grandson and I could play together. I recommend both Nuvo instruments and CacheSaver as a vendor. it is nice that the bell is silicon so that it can't get crushed. This is not a great clarinet, but it is a really good kid clarinet that you can let a young child hold and learn to play. dean

Dood is better for kids.
Nice but more complex for a beginning musician. This is closer to a clarinet in fingering and has the extra extensions for the keys. Nice tone but takes a bit more knowledge than most people have to master it. I also find it harder to blow especially at the upper registers. I don't mean harder to make a sound, literally harder to blow through the instrument.

Poor Strap-
This review is for the strap/ case of this instrument. My kid used it for one day and the strap frayed from one end. I did a quick stitching to place it back, but we had to buy another case for him to carry to and from school. This case stick out of the backup so that's not too practical. Yes the are hand handles, but the shoulder strap is much needed, and more efficient for a kid to carry back and forth, along with his lunch bag, books, computer etc..

Nice little instrument.Didn’t last one day.
The G# key didn’t last one day. This is my 4th and last clarineo. From now on I’ll stick to my John Packer C Clarinet. UPDATE: the key came unstuck and now plays very well. I now play it in preference to the Packer and also in preference to a Yamaha Bb. The reeds, even the 1, are hard to play. I use Royal Eb cane reeds strength 1 in the stock mouth piece instead. Sounds great. Changed the rating to 5 stars.

Great starter instrument, wrong color
I love the clarineo but my 3 stars is based on the fact that I ordered a black clarineo and I was sent a white and pink one. I wanted it exchanged but there’s no option so I’m just gonna keep it because I need to have a clarineo in my studio.

Great for learning clarinet!
I’m an adult who is interested in learning to play the clarinet. This thing is a great tool for that. Instead of an expensive actual clarinet, or a cheap “student” model, buy this and see if playing the clarinet is something you really want to do. It’s very low maintenance, easy to tune (if you need to), lightweight, and has sufficient range to play lots of easy songs.

Nice sound
Use your regular reeds for better control. Fingering is simplified for both your hand pinky fingers, thus plan ahead if reading from a clarinet standard score. The sound is mellow though not as deep as standard wood. Crisp and nice, light enough you grab it more often without a thought.

Bought as a present. Recipient delighted. Clarineo now sits on a multi-stand with flute and tin whistle in the work-from-home study, ready to be picked up at a moment’s notice. Build quality is excellent. The finish is great—no spruey bits or pinholes. The included plastic reed sounds and plays well. Natural reed (1 provided) sounds even better. Jazz sounds jazzy, Mozart sounds like Mozart. People see the white plastic construction and expect to be disappointed. They’re blown away! Authentic clarinet tone and fingering system. The only difference from a normal clarinet is that it’s pitched in C, rather than B-flat. If you read from a standard clarinet tutor or sheet music, you’ll sound two semitones higher, than expected by the rest of the band. But if you play tunes notated for piano, flute, violin, guitar or voice, you’ll be right there with them. Solo, it doesn’t matter. Learning at home during lockdown, this posed no problem. ‘A tune a day for clarinet’ works just as well in C as in B-flat. As a beginner, this felt easy to get started with. Keys and levers are comfortably spaced, operate smoothly, and don’t leak. One of them (E-flat) returns a little slowly but is wearing in. As with any musical instrument, don’t be over-ambitious, practise regularly, build basic skills, and expand your range bit by bit. Mouth shape (embouchure) and breath control (from the diaphragm, not the throat!) are fundamental.
