Grinding Technology: The Way Things Can Work: Theory and Applications of Machining with Abrasives (Volume 1)

Grinding Technology
I found this to be the best book of the three I ordered. It has a section on brittle material grinding the other two did not. I was in solar silicon grinding and found it very helpful in my analysis of my grinds. It would have been much more helpful had my boss allowed me to apply the principles, but that's a different topic. I conducted experiments that exhibited a 40% or greater throughput matching or beating the existing quality metrics I was monitoring with my existing production wheels. These were surface finish, subsurface damage, and geometric controls regarding shape and form factors. It also provided good methodologies to extend grind wheel life.In one experiment with a test wheel, it mathed out to have a 3 year service life. My existing wheels only possessed a lifespan of about 3-4 months of continuous operation. I drafted a proposal to conduct a pilot process on one of the grind tools, but management did not agree and barred me from implementation. The math and processes in this book are sound and I found this book quite helpful. Had I worked in an industry where grinding was more understood by my colleagues (largely chemical engineers) it would have been embraced much more openly. The direction this book took me and the results I produced following it's methodologies could have saved my employer $88,000 plus per year on consumables for my module.

Five Stars
It's good book for machine researcher, mainly to understand grinding technology.
