An adapter whose use is as advertised at a nominal price
I bought this adapter (along with several other different adapters) to transfer info from a laptop pc hard drive to almost any storage medium. It functions as advertised within specifications and does so at a fair price.

Works just as advertised
Bought this in conjunction with a VGA to RCA/SVIDEO converter with the intent to hook my Mac Book Pro to my TVand stream Netflix and such. My MacBook Pro (2007) has the DVI or DVI-I out that works with this adapter in that it has the 24pin slots along with the 4side pin slots configured around the + (exactly the connection shown the the picture). I dont know how long Mac used this connection or on which models but if you do have this exact connection then this will work for you.I was able to hook it up to a Monoprice VGA to RCA (super cheap and works fine) adapter and from there to the S-Video connection on my old tv. It took a little while to figure out how to work the VGA adapter properly but once you get a feel for the color/contrast controls every thing works pretty nicely together. So if your looking to connect an older computer with this particular style port connection to your old RCA style television - with the addition of a VGA to RCA converter -, this could be the perfect low price link to your chain. Also, connecting this to your computer will give your screen an odd distorted look for however long you leave it plugged in, and it usually gets rid of my desktop picture, which if i dont correct it later, wont return until after the computer is shutdown and restarted again. I assume this is just what the computer is designed to do in order to properly convert to an analog signal? I don't know but besides the desktop picture issue everything WILL, once disconnected from the converter, return back to normal.

Simple, cheap and effective.
This adapter was necessary for me to use the monitor I picked up at a garage sale. The monitor had a DVI output port and cable included, but my PC's graphics card (GPU) only had an HDMI input port. To be sure, I asked what I would need and it was confirmed this would suit my needs. It does indeed do that. While it kinda sticks out a bit and perhaps isn't the most secure thing ever (avoid bumping it), it's probably the best adapter you can find. I'm entirely satisfied with my purchase.Simple, cheap and does its just exactly how I needed it to. I wouldn't leave it exposed in a direction where someone or something moves a lot, as smacking it would probably dent the components or snap something, but I have my PC back against a wall where it belongs and have had no issues. No disconnections, no faulty pins, nothing. Works like a charm.

Good Product
This product is exactly what it says. Good construction and good when running computer through your Flat Panel TV, but not for the application I intended to use it for. This will not work when going from a media player (DVD, VHS or other device) to a Proxima Ultralight X350 projector regardless of the output you set the player to. However, I does work when you have all of the other inputs used up on you TV... you can use the VGA input to add another device!

Works Perfectly With My CRT
I have a Sony Multiscan E540 that has a built-in VGA cable, but my 980ti has a DVI output, so I needed a passive adapter. I’ve tried many different ones, but I’ve finally found one that works! Once fully tightened it is very secure and the resulting image is free of discoloration; the other adapters would always cast a green or yellow shade on the screen, so this is very exciting! I can even still set custom resolutions like 1024x768 at 120hz, and it works great!

Doesn't work with my computer...
Doesn't work with my computer, but my computer is very finicky with monitors. When I first bought it, the monitor that it came with had to be returned because it was incompatible with the computer. I'm sure the adapter works just fine and it was under $2 so I'm not too concerned about it, but if you have a picky computer and can't stand losing two bucks, don't buy it.Amazon makes me put a star rating, so I did three stars for "neutral."Update: The monitor works well with my computer when using a DVI to DVI cable, so I'm not sure if it was the adapter or my computer just really not liking the adapter. Either way, it was still only $2 and it was worth it because it meant that I got a better deal on the cables than if I had bought them in the first place. (Two sturdy and long DVI to DVI cables for under $10 shipped; they weren't available for that price when I bought the adapter and I just checked, they're not available at that price now.)

Works as it should
Works as it should.Unfortunately I ordered the wrong thing, so it is currently a backup to the one I already had.((I was attempting to connect a second monitor to my computer's graphics card. I saw a DVI port and assumed it was the same as the DVI I was currently using. Turns out the one I was using was a DVI-I and the other was a DVI-D. So this adapter didn't work. I did my research and found that a DVI-D doesn't work with VGA because of the analog/digital format of the two. Not going to go in depth with that, just google if you need to know. So I looked up my GPU -as I couldn't see the back of my computer well- and found I had a Display Port. Bought a VGA to Display Port adapter and now I have 2 monitors! This adapter has been stored in case my first one ever breaks or I end up needing it for another computer.))
