Great pens for drawing, who would've known?
I bought this set in December of 2015 and I have been using them for several months now. My experience with this pens have been great, I am an illustrator and my first intention was to use them for drawing which has been a whole new experience as the nibs are completely different from regular fountain pen nibs; they can draw pretty well and let you experiment with different type of thickness in lines which is always a great plus when doing inked works. For writing I haven't really done calligraphy, but I have used them for header writings when making notes and stuff like that and they are extremely useful! The write/draw pretty well and have a nice flow with the regular pilot ink, ecoline watercolor inks and pigmented ink (I KNOW! I'm not supposed to use pigmented ink in a fountain pen, but with good care and regular use I haven't found any problems). For me I have found that the Pilot Ink that this pens come with is a little runny and too wet, so I prefer using the ecoline inks and pigmented inks, but that is a taste thing. Regarding the package I got the four Pilot Parallel pens listed here, one of each size (from the 1.5 mm to the 6.0mm), and they all came in their individual packages. The cool thing is that I got one old design with three new ones, so I got and old "cleaning tube" which can be used as a converter for ink although I don't really use it as I have found that cleaning the little tubes after using them and get my pigmented ink in is rather easy and useful. If not I also have tested and used the eye dropper method and it works pretty well without leakage with exception of a few stains around the connection of the body with the nib area, but other than that nothing bigger. The product was delivered in a box well protected and the pens complied with the description of the product. Really good writing (even if I have tried them out in a simple way) and great for drawing! Love the effect you can create with this pens and ink, definitely recommended for artist and illustrators that would like to experiment.

Love these pens!
I came across a video on calligraphy using the parallel pen and purchased the set for myself.I love doing calligraphy and lettering and this pen is perfect! The set comes with all 4 sizes and is much cheaper than buying individually. Each set comes with the pen, 2 inks, a tool to easily clean out residual ink, a thin plastic like tool used to clear out fibers should the accumulate between the metal nibs and a nice little pamphlet that gives instructions and 2 font types to practice. The nibs are flat and flexible, perfect for Old English style of calligraphy as well as others. You can use the wide flat nib for broad strokes or usr just the side for a thin stroke. They use a specific ink cartridge and have a set of 12 different colors available. While they state ink is not refillable it actually can be done very easily with a blunt needle and fountain pen ink. For those interested there is a video on Youtube that shows you how. You can also easily hack the nib using a dremmel style tool, again, several videos demonstrate how.The pen itself is made out of all plastic with the exception of the nib which is metal. The set comes with one each of red and black ink. If you decide to buy refills they are fairly reasonable and come in sets of 12. I suggest getting at least 1 set so you can refill wirh colors if your own.I am over the moon with these pens and even ordered 2 additional sets to do ombre style lettering. I just wish I had known sooner about these as they are perfect for lettering of course and even drawing. Definately get the full set, its so much cheaper and you will want all 4 sizes.

I can't rate these amazing pens high enough!
These are outstanding pens! I picked up a calligraphy book on a site that rhymes with fleebay for a dollar, thinking that I'd like to learn, or at the very least, improve my handwriting. Somehow, I found someone, somewhere, saying these pens were amazing for learning and beyond. After reading reviews, I ordered the whole set, as it's more economical to get 4 for 20 rather than one for 7 or 8. I am so, so, so, so happy that I did! It writes like a dream, and if you turn it so that the words, 'Pilot' on the nib are facing you, you can use the corner to write like a normal pen.It is easy to clean out and change ink cartridges. I save all my empty cartridges so that I can refill them myself. Do yourself a favor and pick up some Noodler's Heart of Darkness ink and refill your own with a syringe or eye dropper. That ink is amazing, and is as black as the bottom of the Mariannes Trench!I have excelled in calligraphy in just a few short weeks, and I know it is in large part because of these Pilot pens! I started practicing with the red ink, to save the black for when I was better.(Before I ordered the Noodler's ink) I just pick a font and drill, drill, drill my ABC's. I have probably drilled my ABC's 800 times in the last month and it truly makes a difference!I don't have any drawings to show you, but another girl has an amazing drawing in the user photos, to see how you can blend and grade the colors together by holding the pens tip to tip. I highly recommend looking at her drawing to see what these are capable of!You will not regret the purchase of these pens!
