Great leather. Good quality, even better customer service.
The first scrap I received was a little damaged. It had some significant discoloration (not the good kind that looks "natural" or "variant," as is characteristic of real leather) and a small gouge in it that I worried would tear further and, unfortunately, the damage was in such a place that the scrap wasn't going to work for my purposes. (It also had some mild scuffing, but nothing more than what would happen with handling and would occur once I started using the leather myself, so that didn't bother me.) I called the company and they were so responsive in correcting the problem. Excellent customer service. The second piece was in great condition. Again, some minimal scuff marks, but nothing affecting the integrity of the piece and I don't know that you can expect not to have those on real leather. The leather itself seems of excellent quality. Admittedly, I'm not a leather expert, but it was exactly what I was looking for: 5-6oz weight (about 3mm thick), rather stiff and thick. With both pieces, I was impressed how evenly shaped it was. I was worried my scrap might be misshapen or something, since it is a "scrap," but it was exactly as described from that standpoint. The leather is pretty dark--it has rich warm tones, like a reddish brown or burnt sienna, which I didn't expect. It photographs a bit lighter than it is, and I wish it was more of a lighter/tan brown. At first I wondered if I had been sent the darker leather by mistake, but the second scrap was also very dark. It is still beautiful, just darker than I was expecting. Overall, great experience. I would buy again. Will try to post some photos later. For those wondering, I used this to make a traveler's notebook (akin to the Midori). If you're interested, I used 1/16" paracord elastic cording. Elastic 1/16" Diameter Stretch String Bungee Shock Cord Various Colors in 10, 25, 50, & 100 Feet Options I think it was the perfect thickness of cording. I cut the leather using a rotary cutter, which turned out to be pretty easy. Just had to apply a bit of pressure. Punching big enough holes to pull the cording through, however, was extremely difficult, since I don't own leather tools and this is thick, solid stuff. Oh well, I made it work in the end.

Good for some things
This item was just as I expected. The color is nice and the leather is thick. It is fairly stiff which is what I wanted, but if you need something pliable you may want to look for something else. I used it to make a Midor style leather planner cover and it worked really well for that purpose.

I just wanted to say that I received a very nice piece of leather of uniform thickness
I don't review things very often, but since there are some negative reviews of this item that made me worry, I just wanted to say that I received a very nice piece of leather of uniform thickness. It is about the medium thickness I expected, and is not 'stiff and dry' as some have reported, but it is as stiff as a medium thickness piece of leather should be. It's not soft glove leather, but the kind of leather you would want for a tool strop, or to leather your gaff jaws. Good stuff. Also smells lovely!

Good piece of quality leather
Nice piece of leatherfor craft use. Just could be a bit bigger. Though I've used itfor several things. One being a hood strap for my weber grill, keeps me from burning my arm reaching the lids

This leather was pretty underwhelming. It had ok color
This leather was pretty underwhelming. It had ok color, though it was clearly stained. The cut of the hide was blue inside which means it was cheaply and quickly tanned. Not worth price. Three stars because it was cut to the right size and thickness was right.

Heavy, flexible leather.
Being a natural product, each piece of leather will be somewhat unique. Product ships rolled in brown paper, which is adequate protection for a piece of material like this. This dull surfaced leather accepts glue better than does tooling leather, which being less permeable, tends to pull apart more easily . It is easy to work and an application of mink oil to the finished project brings out a nice glow. I used it to make Kydex lined knife sheaths, and am very happy with the results.

Making sheaths
I've gotten two of these now, both for making knife sheaths, and both turned out great. It is high quality leather and easy to work with. The ones I got were the same color as the picture (dark brown, almost walnut) and exactly as described. No serious blemishes or imperfections, if/when I need to make another sheath I will buy this again for sure.

Very nice piece of leather
Perfect piece of leather. I bought this to recover my bible. It’s a little thicker than I needed but I’m really thankful to give new life to this book.
