Not Just For Kids
This book is similar to Bobby Fischer Teaches Chess as far as the "no chess set needed" which makes it nice to keep on the nightstand for some late night reading. Speaking of Bobby Fischer, the book is written by Josh Waitzkin whose life was portrayed in the movie "Searching for Bobby Fischer" and a heck of a chess player in his own right, although last I heard he's retired from Chess. The book focuses on the attacking side of chess, pins, skewers, discovery checks, and my favorite the knight fork, and much more, all examples are clear and easy to digest without clogging up your mind with variations. This book will improve your chess. Overall I recommend this book for all beginners and amateur players.

An aggressive style of chess
Josh Waitzkin plays an aggressive style of chess, and here he teaches you some of the principles of such tactics. If you like sharp play, with the game swinging back and forth, as both players battle to the death, this book is for you. If you enjoy a more subdued, positional style of play, that is not Waitzkin's forte. This book is exactly as the title implies.

Reminds me of Tal
My style of chess is similar to the French General Gallieni at the battle of the Marne in WWI. Everywhere the allied army is retreating. He sees his chance and attacks unexpectedly strikes German Army in flank completely disrupting the German plans. Josh Waitzkins is a master of that kind of chess. He also is a master at teaching other advanced chess. To spot your opponent's fatal mistake. How to make sacrifices that lead to ultimate victory.

Entertaining Coverage of Chess Basics
Josh Waitzkin, the inspiration for the main character in the film "Searching for Bobby Fischer" presents the theory and principles behind his style of chess. He was an outstanding player, and although never having reached the heights of some of the most prominent Grand Masters he is still of immense intrigue.Waitzkin is both engaging and informative; he truly communicates the beauty and complexities of the game. The book is a compilation of both chess principles mixed with a bit of autobiographical commentary as the vast bulk of games and puzzles presented are his own. The material is weighted more for the beginner chess player, those rated 1500 or below. But even for those well above, Waitzkin's presentation is engaging enough to make it worth a quick rehashing of ideas.

Very informative, an easy read.
Josh Waitzkin knows how to deliver the chess message without bogging down your brain with unneccesary jargon. I recommend this book to everybody interested in learning aggresive chess strategy.

Great storytelling AND valuable chess lessons.
I just love Josh and actually got mostly intrigued by chess after reading his "The Art of Learning." I'm halfway through Attacking Chess now and not at all disappointed! My friends, on the other hand, are finding themselves more often (and far swifter) on the losing side in the black and white jungle. ;)

Boas histórias sobre a vida de um jogador precoce!
Boas histórias, algumas dicas para jogadores intermediários. Não espere nada excepcional para jogadores avançados. Mas, as histórias são boas, gostei!
