Was Expecting It To Be Stronger
My experience with peels started out with Lactic 50%, then Lactic 70%, then Glycolic 35% then Glycolic 50% from Skin Laboratory. I continue to notice subtle improvements as I continue my applications. My skin looks smoother and somewhat clearer but glycolic does not have the moisturizing qualities of Lactic. From my understanding, they work on different levels of the skin. The glycolic being able to penetrate to a slightly deeper level and can help with the texture of the skin as opposed to lactic which works more on the surface. So, now I alternate one week of lactic, one of glycolic. After using the 50% Glyc a while I decided I was ready for something stronger so I ordered this one. The first time I tried this peel, I started with a one minute application. I had mild tingling but nothing extreme. I added 1 min each time until I was doing 4 min. However, it didn't feel as strong as my 50% skin laboratory glycolic acid. Also, the instructions allowed you to leave it on your face longer than the skin lab recommended. I wrote the company to find out the pHs of the acids and it turns out that Skin Laboratory 50% glycolic acid has a pH of 1.7 whereas this one has a pH of 2.1 and the unbuffered 1.9 (The pH of the acid has a lot to do with its potency, the lower the pH, the more acidic it is). I suspect that because of its higher pH it is not as strong as the lower percentage skin Lab one. I am keeping it and finishing it as it is a great product and am otherwise pleased with it and their customer service. The lower pH makes it safer to use if you are starting out but if you, like me, are looking for something stronger than the 50% skin lab Glyc, then this isn't it.I am hispanic with fair-medium, dry-combination skin. I burn, then tan. I've struggled with stubborn, resistant hyper-pigmentation (melasma) around my eyes for years. I tried countless products that seemed to work for others but not for me. Only photofacials had been able to remove it but it returns with the slightest bit of sun (hyper-active melanocytes) so they were too expensive for a temporary solution. Doing these peels, week by week, gradually increasing the strength, along with a combination of other products I have listed on my profile, has slowly and surely faded my melasma. It's now 95% gone. It will still occasionally come back when I have a run in with the sun but it fades away again. One other thing I will note about Melasma that I have noticed is that smoking aggravates it. When I quit smoking, my melasma was easier to treat. When I started again, some came back. This happened twice. I looked it up online and saw that other people struggling with melasma experienced the same thing. When I get the urge to smoke, I now use electronic cigarettes and those have not had any effect on my melasma.NOTES ON PEELS:-Don't do it more often than they recommend. They recommend you do it every so often for a reason. Your skin has to have time to heal and develop new skin before you strip it away again.-You HAVE to wear sunblock. Your skin is more exposed and vulnerable to damage from sun. Protect it. If you don't you are canceling out or even reversing your progress. I like this one, Ole Henriksen Protect the Truth Sunscreen SPF 50+-1.7 oz. Its not the best moisturizer but as a sunblock, its great. Its my favorite because its hard to find high spf that doesn't leave a white haze, smell funky or make your eyes tear up.-When you are doing your peels, make sure you start with a clean DRY face, water will dilute the acid in your peel. I am wondering if thats why some people did not see any results. I wash my face, swipe it with alcohol on a cotton ball to remove any leftover oils and to help dry it. Wait 10-15 minutes, then apply the peel.-Use a fan brush like this oneTaklon Fan Mask Brush Acid Applicator for Glycolic Lactic TCA Skin Peel / Masques (Small). Mine has lasted over a year. You can use cotton balls/squares but I think they absorb product so you will waste some and get less peels out of your bottle.-Watch your face when the peel is on. The recommended time is a guideline, everyones skin is different and reacts differently. Thats why they recommend you start slow. Some are ok 1 min the first time, others the full 4 min. Once your skin starts looking pinkish, its time to remove. If it gets red, you've gone too long.-Make sure you wash off ALL of the acid. Wash, rewash, wash again. I like to shower right after to make sure its all gone. Any leftover acid will continue to work its way into your skin. I like to use a post peel neutralizer as an extra precaution. MD Formulations had a post peel neutralizer that was AWESOME but they don't sell it individually. I am trying this one Neutralizer skin pH balancer helps balance the pH of your skin for the safe and effective neutralization after peeling.. It works but I am still trying to find one more like the MD formulations one. You pour onto cotton ball and sweep your face right after peel, then wash it off with water. You can also mix your own neutralizer using baking soda and water.-Moisturize after. This one has been my favorite to use after, Hydrating Repair Peptide Wrinkle Cream (Post Peel) - Enhanced with Matrixyl® 3000, Argireline®, Hyaluronic Acid & Natural Botanical Extracts. I also use it as a night cream. Very moisturizing and doesn't feel greasy or leave a residue.

I like to mix a few drops into a teaspoon of ...
Use care when using the product for the first time. I like to mix a few drops into a teaspoon of coconut oil, spread over my skin and let it work for 5 minutes. Then rinse with soap and water. I do this routine twice a week in the winter and my skin stays soft ad aids in moisturizing. Take care using it around the eyes and mouth.

If you have not used a light skin peel before, DO NOT USE!
Also, if you have sensitive skin don't use this. Even slightly sensitive skin. You'll have to take it off before it is effective. As per usual have a bowl of baking soda water ready to drench your face. But yeah, please don't. Go with a lower strength.

Does the job
I read the instructions and followed them carefully the first 2 times I used this peel. I didn't see lots of flaking, but my skin is becoming clearer. The third time I used it, I didn't time it carefully, and I think I left it on too long because I developed a small red patch on my right cheek. It healed well and left no scar, so I'm not worried. I just have to be careful to follow the directions.

Great
This stuff has really helped with lightening my age spots. I dilute it down to 35% so as not to burn the skin off my face. I started with leaving it on for about 3 minutes and have built up a resistance to about 6 minutes. I use it once a week for one month. Take a few weeks break and do it again. Yes...it burns but it is not intolerable. Just wash with really cold water when washing it off.

use with caution
I have had professional chemical peels with no results and also was paying ridiculous amounts for them...I am 35, pitted acne scars and age spots I bought this product really out of desperation. I used it for the first time last night and this morning I woke up and realized I must of left it on to long which was only about 3 minutes and I should've know better because I had read the reviews but I thought because I had extremely tough skin I could handle it and really didn't expect it to do anything since I have had no luck with the professional ones, so my skin the morning after is still stinging, swollen and looks almost like a burn mainly where the "eye bags" are if you are a first time user I would skip this area and try it after you know how your going to react but I have A LOT of redness which is a good thing i think..so my advice is follow other peoples reviews and only leave it on a max of a minute do not go by the bottle it saids you can leave it up to 10 I think.. and trust me I have seriously tough skin and next time Im not going to exceed 1 minute..so if your looking for a professional strength chemical peel this is definitely it, I highly recommend it unless you have sensitive skin, I will put an update in a week or so to share the results. (oh btw I would spend the extra money and get the neutralizer)

Works wonders for clearing acne, exfoliating dead skin cells and cell turnover.
It’s the real stuff. Clears my complexion and has renewed my skin. I use it on a scheduled time frame on every 7 to 10 days. Has worked wonders.

Best at home peel if you follow directions
I refuse to pay upwards of $300 for something I can do myself!I use this about once every two months- full strength for about 10 minutes.Being a 41 yr old redhead who was fairly sun-dumb I had a couple of really dark freckles that bothered me. This has done the trick- they have faded greatly after just 3 peels.I also use a 10% glycolic acid cream 2x daily. My skin has NEVER been better- softer- clearer.I did stock up on this, bc I am worried that they might pull it due to user error ( the ppl who leave it on too long and get burned).Also- it will sting while its on. I can tolerate it. But a first time user might want to dilute it with water or just leave it on for a shorter period of time.Always rinse after with copious amounts of cold water...
