Five stars isn't enough!!
Salon quality pro tan without the cost. No mess no drip application, dries within minutes compared to others I've used that are tacky even 1-2 hours later. (And I live in Florida where everything dries slowly.) I trusted the previous makeup artist reviews and this product didn't disappoint! I will be stocking up on this stuff to avoid disappointment in the event they stop making it at some point. Application: I apply to dry skin in the shower to contain any over spray but there isn't much clean up after as the spray is very lightweight and targets where sprayed. Other products tried have a wider spray resulting in waste and you end up using more. Note: using a mit to buff in after applying is KEY for an even professional sun kissed look. Invest in one if you don't have one, the mit I use was $8.00. Scent: Fresh, subtle, no chemical smell even while developing. Other self tanners leave me self conscious of the smell especially if applied just before an event. No worries with this one! Color: I have very pale Swedish/Polish skin and some inherited spider veins. After the first application I love the natural looking bronze color (not orange at all). It does a nice job of camouflaging the imperfections as an added bonus. It doesn't completely conceal them but that wasn't my expectation when looking to buy a self tanner. The Medium Dark spray color was not too dark even on my light skin. I used only on my legs to even out the real suntan on my upper body. Honestly I can't tell the difference between 'real' vs 'fake' tan! Transfer: After allowing to dry I purposely put on white shorts in the first couple of hours while the color is still developing to test how well it stays on. Two hours in, my white shorts are still white! Note: The next test will be the sweat test. I haven't found a self tanner yet that holds up but won't take away stars if that happens. Tanners just aren't waterproof. Initially I was hesitant to buy the 2-pack thinking that I'd be stuck with double the product if I didn't like the results. But now I'm super happy to have a back up bottle on hand! And as previously mentioned I will almost immediately put in another order to have plenty for the summer ahead. Five stars+ on this self tanner!

Excellent even for fair skin..just know HOW to apply
This is the BEST self tanner on the market. Its great over a tan as you start to fade your natural tan AND its excellent on pure virgin fair skin that hasnt seen sun in months or years. The key to a great looking tan is in the application. The tan will last about 4-7 days. And once you have it going you can quickly respray every few days to keep it fresh. When you spray hold the can far enough away so that it doesnt apply the product too wet.. You dont want it to be streaky but ratner "mist" on your skin. I apply it and let it dry for 10 minutes then go back for a second coat being careful to watch how my skin feels.. If it feels too wet or tacky, the product is being applied too heavy. You dont want tanner running down your neck because you are too excited about how great you will look if you get REALLY tan today! Go slow..and yo will lobpve it. For me a 2 day spray process is best and i always apply at night then sleep in black clothes. This stuff DOES get all over sheets and bedding BUT will completely wash out.. Buy dark sheets if it bothers you. Its goes on with a bronzer so you can see where its being applied then the color intensifies overnight. Shower lightly the next morning to rinse or you will smell like the tanner as your body heats up during the day. Be careful not to over apply on your neck..again to the point where it feels tacky or too wet or it can streak,,,also keep it off your hands and wash reallllllly well... But LIGHTLY mist your hands up to your knuckles realy fast at the end to give a little color to your hands,,, this product is excellent color wise giving a bronze warm glowing tan.. It is not bright orange and the mist spray application in the spray bottles is great just give a good 2 days to apply so that you get buildable even coverage... I like to do my face, chest and arms,, and my lower legs during fall or winter when i might not be in summer clothing or on the beach... Because i really dont care if i havewhite thighs or a white tummy under my clothes.. The first time i used it i over sprayed and did t let it dry before i sprayed some more.. Wanting to get really tan but then realized its better to hold the can far away and do a couple of coats day ne.. Sleep.. Wash off... Then do it again the next night so that in 2 days you have the even bronze color you want. Believe me, even after the first day people will notice you have color..but hy day 2 you will look like you were on vacation for a week. Dont forget the back of your arms.. Hold the bottle far away or have someone do it for you.. Just dont overspray (did i say not to overspray??) then wipe your elbows off.. And always wash your hands after! .. One last thing... If the nozzle is getting product on it or excess tanner is pooling around the front of the area where it comes out, Wipe it clean and dont spray your body because it will splatter..this would be a sign that you have been holding the can too close and the product is not reachng your body but rather going back to the can.. Ok, one LAST thing.. Your eyebrows. Spray your face ( do not blot at all) but blot your eyebrows or hairline off afterwards with a towel..softly. Good luck!

Stunning color, but prioritize ideal conditions to avoid staining/mess
To start: the color is stunning! AND the tan lasts for 4-5 days without looking blotch depending how often you shower. The compliments I received were notable, and mistaken for a real tan. BUT (!) It's not for the faint of heart. I sincerely encourage you to apply this outside in a DARK bikini, away from towels and clothes. It will stain light fabric and your hands/feet, especially if it sits for too long. My suggestions if you dare to use and get the amazing color we all deserve. Use gloves (it will stain your hands) or do not touch or rub in the product while applying. Be sure to stand on a towel, if you step in it— it will stain bottoms of your feet. Dawn soap "helped" take most of it off but it took some serious scrubbing. Just not worth it if you can avoid it. Use circular motions 10 inches away to apply for an even distribution. And do not get wet for 3-5 hrs (6 hrs is ideal) bc it runs . Look. A ventilated area is a must (especially if in shower or inside, find a window and turn on that ventilator fan); it can be easily inhaled when there is no where for the mist to vent towards. The brown color WILL fly around you. It radiated. I personally would not recommend this in the shower if you have an all white situation. It stained my shower curtain liner. It will rinse off tile/linoleum, but prepare for some scrubbing if you have any soap scum present. YES, it's laborious. BUT the color is great! The most natural looking color I have tried. And trust me, I have tried all the foams, lotions, and mousses out there. It really does not stink after you rinse. Not like most tanning products we are all familiar with. I found it less scented than the $50+ products like San Tropez. The scent is not even that bad while its on. Color lasts for 4-5 days depending how much you shower. And you can shave legs with it on with minimal color loss. If you can handle the high-maintenance application, I think this product is worth every cent. Just prepare!

LOYAL CUSTOMER WARNING! The Formula is GONE
This was my tried-and-true, holy grail product that I have been loyal to for more than four years. However, in the last two months, Body Drench has completely reformulated this product, changed production from the USA to China, and ruined it. Do not waste your money on this new version. The new spray nozzle clogs and does not provide the fine, even mist the original was famous for. This is directly linked to the ingredient change: The original formula contained Ethoxydiglycol, PEG-60 Almond Glycerides. These are crucial. Ethoxydiglycol helps the tanner penetrate the skin evenly, resulting in a deeper, more even tan. PEG-60 Almond Glycerides act as an emulsifier/texture enhancer. Removing them contributed to the poor performance and streaking. The DHA now sits on the surface differently. Without those specialized solvents, the product likely feels stickier, takes longer to dry, and is more prone to running or concentrating unevenly, leading to streaks and that awful new nozzle performance. The most compelling evidence of a quality change is the position of Dihydroxyacetone (DHA). In cosmetics, ingredients are listed in descending order of concentration. In the original, DHA is the 4th ingredient. In the new formula, DHA is the 2nd to last ingredient. The result? The new tan will be significantly lighter because the main tanning agent is present in a much lower concentration, likely a cost-cutting measure along with the move to China production. This means you have to spray much more to get any color, which then contributes to uneven application from the poor formula. This product was ruined because they reduced the concentration of the main tanning ingredient (DHA) to save money, they replaced high-performance, skin-penetrating solvents with cheaper, standard humectants/preservatives, destroying the signature fine-mist, non-streaking application, and the new ingredient base and change in factory location ruined the delicate chemistry that produced that glowy, bronzy, "pinky hue." Body Drench chose cost savings (moving production to China and using fewer active/expensive ingredients) over product quality, and it has backfired completely. This is no longer the product you loved.

Great
This product is really worth it. I am pretty pale and I was at first afraid when I read it's medium dark. The color is great. It wasn't a huge dramatic change. It just depends on how many times or how much you apply. I just got it yesterday and I shaved/ exfoliated before applying. I think it would be easier if I had gotten my boyfriend to spray me, because it was hard for me to do it evenly so I was rushing and rubbing it in with my hands. It does dry incredibly fast which is a good thing as long as you even it out and wash your hands quickly. I washed my hands afterwards and mostly it came off. They are still stained and the top of my hands are blotchy but nothing to freak out over. I washed my hands this morning and some of it even came off. I recommend this product to others. I have never really used spray tan except twice and once was professionally and the other time I had a defective bottle and turned me green. So this product was really great. probably not as great as the real spray tan at the tanning salon obviously because this is self tanning spray and it doesn't come with someone to do it for you! I like this spray like I said before, just my hands are blotchy and also a little on my feet. I recommend buying gloves or some type of thing to rub it in if you cannot spray evenly like me! Oh and be careful of the spots like between your fingers, knuckles, ankles, toes etc. Those are tough spots to do! I did put a lotion on my knees and certain spots. I will get my boyfriend to apply it on me the next time! I am thinking of buying some type of lotion or oil self tanning next time just to see if its easier to apply and rub in since I am horrible at doing it on my own! But the product is great and if you think you will have trouble spraying it on yourself, get someone else to do it for you!

A Skinny Jay Review!!! Update
Update 4-18-2014: The color faded completely after 7 days. I could tell by the fake tan line I created using a speedo. I recommend applying every 4 to 5 days in order to maintain the color. bottom line - great instant spray tan at home that you can do even on your back without help. natural color, highly recommended Color : a natural medium tan color. Not orange. Looks natural to me and my friends Smell: This has a very pleasant smell, strong and a little bit perfume like, but pleasant. It is not at all like the strong chemical smell that I typically associate with self tanners. Application: You must apply this in an area that you can blast clean with water or that you are not worried about staining. The spray mist will settle on everything by the time you are done with your whole body. Do it in the shower our outside on the lawn or patio. Dry Time: Fast! I would say I was dry 5 minutes after putting it on. It will still rub off on light colored clothing though until your first shower. The Clean Up: In my shower, the spray settles everywhere and the white shower was golden tan as well. I used the shower wand to wash down the entire inside of the shower and the color just washed down the drain no scrubbing. Fantastic!! How much? I am 6' tall 170lbs. I was able to do two full body applications using one and a quarter cans, so my estimate is that two cans will give you three full body applications. I tend to have a heavy trigger finger so if you are smaller than me and more reserved you can go further with it I am sure. My Story: I am naturally pretty pale and it takes me several days covered in SPF 30 and up to get a good base each summer. I am a typical Euro/American Mutt. A Little Irish, a little English, some Polish, and Spanish mixed in as well. Dark Hair, pale skin, and no free time to tan. I was doing a weekend at a beach house with friends and decided to give this a try. I have been recommending it to everyone I talk to since the first application. I stood inside my shower and closed it up. I have a window in my shower and this game me the ventilation I needed to breathe since the spray fills the air. I wore a black Speedo to give myself a tan line effect and it worked just as planned. Make sure to scrub the bottoms of your feet after words because you will be stepping abound in it and stain the bottom of your feet. If you leave it on too long the bottoms of your feet will be the tannest part of your body. I put Vaseline on my toes so that the spray didn't darken the cuticles, nails, and knuckles and I also used a typical latex glove to keep my hands safe from the spray. The tan is instant and you don't need to rub it in, but I did anyway. I was able to get every part front and back without help. I then scrubbed the heck out of the soles of my feet. It dried super fast and then I went to bed. The next morning I took a shower and saw the water had a pale brown tint for the first minute. But my tan held fast and looked fantastic. I didn't need to but I decided to do a second coat that night and darken it up. It got a few shades darker and still looked natural. One important trick is to not spray into the areas that don't get dark anyways, like up in the armpits and the underside of the forearm. Keep the applications to these areas very light if at all and it will look more natural. Also it is a good idea to wipe the tanner off of the knee caps and elbows so they don't get too dark either. Dark and even everywhere is always a tell tale sigh of a fake tan. Also on the second application I did not apply to the face and neck areas, most people don't need to tan those areas because they get enough sun. Making your face and neck too dark can really ruin a self tanning experience, and your vacation photos Also, very important to remember to use sunscreen still to prevent sun damage. Self tanners do not increase your skin's natural ability to defend against UV rays. I recommend this one CeraVe SPF 50 Sunscreen Spray, 5 Ounce read my review and see why Read my revi

This stuff is great, but the Body Drench FOAM is better!
If you love this product, one with much less hassle is Body Drench - same company - Whipped Chocolate Self-Tanning Mousse (a foam). It's available on Amazon. It is foolproof, and doesn't create a mess or get into your lungs like the spray. All Body Drench products are a beautiful color -- a tint of brown and red (giving you a sun-kissed look) and never orange. I'm very pale, so I need a natural look. IMPORTANT: For both products, the key is to get Powder-Free Latex Gloves (through Amazon), which allows the product to blend soooo well. As you're rubbing in, any excess product sticks to the gloves -- then all you have to do is swipe your hand up and down on your arm or leg to get it off and it will blend in perfectly. When spraying only, I used to get little tiny dots all over (after all, it is coming out of a spray can). Trust me, if you're having any trouble with self-tanners, it's because you're not using powder-free latex gloves. The Body Drench mousse smells like cookies, which I prefer to chemicals or perfume (like most tanners). I put the foam on at night before bed, sleep with it for 6-8 hours, then shower in the morning. If you apply it in the morning, it will streak or come off on your clothes. Also if you shower within 2-3 hours of applying, it will come right off. You need it to set for 6-8 hrs overnight without sweating or showering, then you must shower in the morning to get off that first layer, leaving just the tan behind. Note: When you first put on the foam, IT WILL BE LIGHT. That's OK; it'll take 1 hour to start turning darker, and the longer you leave it on (overnight), the better it will last. You can apply 1-2 layers at once, but since it gets darker, don't go overboard. If you wake up with streaks don't worry -- they will wash right off in the shower, leaving you with a very even tan. The foam is the only truly fool-proof tanner out there. I prefer the Body Drench Mousse (foam) to the spray because: 1) The spray gets everywhere - even if you spray in the shower, it will circulate in the air and turn everything red. I was also breathing it in, and my lungs were not happy about it! 2) You have to be very careful with the spray; any streaks you create won't fade off in the shower. 3) You can't "build" a tan with the spray - do it one night after the other - or it gets streaky and uneven. The foam is amazing; I can put it on one night after the other and once I shower the next morning, all streaks disappear. With the spray, I had to do one very careful spray, then wait a few days, exfoliate completely before spraying again. This was time-consuming. The foam takes MUCH less time, because it barely streaks and doesn't get all over the place. 4) The spray, after a few days, turns scaly and flakes off. The foam fades VERY evenly. The spray is a bit darker than the foam. But the darker the tan, the more it has to be perfect; any slight mistake with the spray is OBVIOUS. The foam is still dark enough to be great but makes tanning a quick, easy process. I no longer spend hours per week (which I used to with the spray) showering, exfoliating, drying off, preparing towels to catch the excess spray, spraying in the tub, standing by a fan, etc. The foam takes 5 minutes - I just slap on a layer every 2 or 3 nights. The Body Drench Foam also trumps lotions, such as Jergens or L'Oreal, which require you to apply daily, making it thick and uneven. Lotions are heavy and come RIGHT off in the pool. Body Drench spray and foam are very light. You're meant to sleep in it, and when you shower the next morning, the product comes off but the tan color stays on - which means your skin can breathe in summer versus having a thick layer of lotion on. Also, the foam and spray work wonderfully on your hands and feet (with the latex gloves!) whereas the lotions don't. I've been out of tanning beds for 4 years now and have used self-tanners the entire time since. I strongly believe that finding the right self-tanner makes all the difference!

It’s okay….
Hi, my name is Tara and I am an admitted self-tanaholic. You name it, I’ve tried it. During the summer I go stand in a spray booth once a week, but during the winter I stick to a gradual lotion for my arms and legs (I live in AZ, so we can wear tank tops in January) and a spray on my face. Nobody knows the actual color of my skin, except myself. And thankfully I have the genes to pull it off. The spray I’ve been using for YEARS has been discontinued (I almost cried) so I’ve been searching for something that 1- won’t make me look orange, blotchy, or unnatural 2- won’t make me break out 3- is easy to use and 4- won’t stain anything. Out of 5, I’d give this a solid 3.5- The spray is really fine and sprays a light mist, which I like; you can always wait for it to develop and add another layer. It also sprays pretty evenly. It doesn’t stain anything fabrics or my shower grout, and the DHA smell isn’t crazy bad, but it’s a really light color, which is why I knocked it down a few points. If you’re really light-skinned, you’ll probably love this. If you’re more olive skinned (like myself), you won’t notice anything after the first spray and you’ll want to wait awhile for it t develop completely. For the price, it’s a decent spray but definitely meant for lighter skin or a very subtle bit of color.
