This is what you need for Apple LED Cinema Display A1316
This works perfect to hook an Apple LED Cinema Display A1316 to a M4 Mini. My only complaint is I'd love a slightly longer one (which is a desk configuration issue on my end). Thanks to all those who specified the monitor by model number (as I did). That made it a snap to find the positive reviews and I had zero hesitation in ordering it. Works flawlessly. I purchased in late July. It even tolerates me unplugging it to move the hardwired cable over to my laptop a couple of times a week.

Works perfectly mac mini m4 and 27 led cinema display
Connected perfectly on 27inch LED cinema ( mini displayport ) monitor with m4 mac mini Mac os tahoe 26.2. Fit perfectly in any of the usb c ports in the back. I have a thunderbolt dock and this adapter perfectly fits with the docks cable and a usbc to spdif adapter i have. No purple/ green tint. Highly recommend

Not sure why some think this works - TLDR - It Doesn't Work
Doesn't work on older monitor. I had a MiniDP to DVI for a Surface Pro 3 hookup to an older monitor. It works well. So instead of buying a USB-C to DVI cable for my new Surface Pro 7 I thought just get an adapter. Good idea but the adapter doesn't adapt, no video, nada.

USB C to Mini Displayport
This seemingly little adapter delivers a powerful punch, enabling me to seamlessly connect my USB-C devices, including the most recent iPhone 15 series, M1/M2 MacBooks, and even the cutting-edge Steam Deck or ROG Ally, to external monitors that have Mini DisplayPort inputs. Putting it together was a piece of cake; all you had to do was put it into the USB-C port on your smartphone, and you were done! The display may now be mirrored or extended onto a bigger screen, depending on your preference. The adapter is capable of supporting resolutions as high as 4K at a delightfully smooth refresh rate of 60Hz. This guarantees a viewing experience that is both sharp and fluid, regardless of whether you are working, gaming, or streaming multimedia material. With this small miracle, I was able to incorporate it into my workflow without any difficulty, removing the need for various adapters and cords that were cluttering up my workplace. It worked with everything from my reliable MacBook Pro to the most recent Galaxy handsets.

worked to connect macbook pro m4 to vintage apple cinema display with mini-displayport
i got a new macbook pro m4 for work but the monitor i have at home is a cinema display from like 2015 or 2017, so it has a mini displayport cable and i couldnt use it with the new laptop. i already had a Thunderbolt-3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt-2 Adapter, which i thought would work because thunderbolt-2 is the same shape as mini-displayport, but it didn't work because they are not the same thing (duh!). scrambled to order this one and was very happy that it worked like a charm. no lag or anything.

Functional item, just not with what I needed it for
Item works with other computers, but actually needed it to connect a 2021 Macbook Pro to an Apple A4107 Thunderbolt display and it doesn't work. Item name says it would work with that laptop. Apparently only the $50 Apple adapter will work.

THIS is the adapter you need for a 27" LED Apple Cinema A1316
If you are looking for a way to connect an older Apple Cinema display there's a few things to consider: 1. Which monitor do you have? Is it an A1316 or the Thunderbolt version (A1407)? There's a difference in how they connect and the older A1316 has three leads (besides the power cable) coming out of the back, one is USB , one is a magnetic power connecter like for the older macbooks and the third LOOKS like a Thunderbolt 2 adapter, but here's the catch IT IS NOT THUNDERBOLT...and Apple is pretty clear about it but there's a lot of confusion here, it is a mini display port and if you hook it up to a pure thunderbolt 2 to USB-C (aka Thunderbolt 3/4) it will not work... What you need is a USB-C to MINI DISPLAY adapter and that is what this item is... I have used it on a Mac Mini M1 and a MacBook Pro M2 and it connects just fine and all the built in available resolutions are there, I am using it as a mirror of my MBP because the laptop screen in only 14" and my eyes need more. If you have an LED Apple Cinema 27" A1316 THIS is the adapter you need...there is a lot of misinformation out there but I am using it now and it works fine.

Nice dongle, works well. I usually use it with one of those old Apple LCD monitors and primarily use it for work. The dongle is plug and play with no issues. The dongle itself also feels well built. I carry it with me everywhere and rattles around in my bag and still always works every time. Only reason I mention I wish i didnt have it is because I wish there was just a mini display port on my macbook. But really this is the next best thing. Overall purchase with confidence, great dongle with exactly as expected functionality and with good durability.

Works great at 2K 144Hz which is my primary resolution. Plug and play between my LG monitor and graphics card, nothing much more to say. Build quality is superb. I feel like braided cables like this one should really be standard, doesn't matter if it's USB, HDMI, whatever. Having a braided cable just increases its longevity and prevents it from being a twisted up mangled mess like regular plastic sleeved cables. I also dig the fact that this cable has a built in velcro loop to keep it wrapped up when you're not using it. Not anticipating that I'll unplug this cable very often given it's attached to my computer but a nice appreciated touch nevertheless from cable manufacturers like this one to include it. It's just annoying to lose twist ties or velcro ties that aren't attached to the cable itself later on.

I have an old Apple 24” Cinema display LED monitor. I wanted to connect it to my new Mac mini using the Mini Display Port cable. The Apple display comes with a mini display port, a USB cable and a power cable for charging a MacBook. I connected the above adapter as well as the USB cable from the cinema display and it worked perfectly. Without the USB it didn’t work. The camera is functioning as well.
