Action!: Nothing Happens Until Something Moves

another "Rewritten and Retitled" version of his other books!
Mr. Ringer's latest book is perhaps not his best book, but the theme is the most important one among his books and ideas. I enjoyed and learned a lot about life and businese reading his books, and I read them all.The ideas that appear in this book are not new. In fact, all of the ideas had been written in his other books. It is amazing that he even copy almost entire chapters from his other books literally without changes. One example is the third chapter regarding value based action, the chapter has taken mostly from pages of "Getting What you Want, 7 principles of rational living" without any modificacion. The anecdotes are also mostly taken from his other books. This seems to be a "REWRITTEN AND RETITLED" version of all his other books.Nevertheless, this is a summary book of his philosophy. As he once wrote, he exchanges ideas for your money, value for value based relation between the author and the reader ( Looking out for number one). For the money I spent on this book, the education I received for the real world is priceless.Thank you, Mr. Ringer!Suggestion to the Tortoise: Mr. Ringer, I am looking forward to an updated, expanded, and rewritten version of your classic "Looking Out for Number One" which I consider the Tortoise at his best!

Nothing happens until... you move
I've read all of Robert Ringer's books and they are life changing, if, you're ready and willing to accept the facts that he presents and "act" on them. Do you agree with this statement, "there's no free lunch"? If so, you're ready for the success principles that Robert will present. If not, you may resist his logic and think you wasted your money. I found his book, "Million Dollar Habits", while killing time in a book store back in 1996 after I had just left my job of 13 years to join a new company. It had a catchy title in green lettering. I laughed thinking, yeah, that's what I need, the million dollar habits. I bought the book, and that day, my outlook on life changed. If you're ready for it, your outlook on life may change too. Note that most of Ringers books (Looking Out for #1, Million Dollar Habits, Getting What you Want, etc.) present many of the same principles simply updating them with each book.. Having read them all, I recommend starting with, "Action!".

Mr. Ringer knows how to "cut and paste"
I read "Million Dollar Habits" immediately before reading this book, and it is a great book. I couldn't believe it though when I saw that aside from the first chapter Mr. Ringer had basically taken "Million Dollar Habits" and put it in this book, renaming some of the ideas, but in large measure copying the previous work word for word. In this book Mr. Ringer tells of how he has become proficient at using Microsoft Word. Well, he certainly appears to have mastered the "cut and paste" function. In this book Mr. Ringer discusses how action can improve your life, and also discusses the virtues of honesty, providing value to others, etc., all of which are excellent teachings that should be studied by people seeking to improve in life. These teachings are worth infinitely more than the fairly steep purchase price of this book. However, each time I came to another chapter or section that I had already read in "Million Dollar Habits" I felt more and more like I had been tricked into buying this book.If a recording artist put out a "new" album, and 8 of the 12 songs were the same recordings that had been released on a previous album, you'd probably think the artist was going for quick cash without really seeking to provide value to the purchaser. And, you'd likely lose some respect for that recording artist. Sure, the 4 new songs are good, but is it honorable to make you repurchase the 8 songs you already have in order to get the 4 new ones?It verges on dishonest for Mr. Ringer to market this as a "new" book. Maybe he needs cash.

Inspiration and Above
This is the 3rd book in a row that I have read written by Mr. Ringer. I can honestly acclaim that I could feel changes for the good taking place in my life as I read each of his works. I am thankful for the person who shared this author with me and grateful to Mr. Ringer for his view on getting the most out of life and at the expense of no one. I highly recommend reading each of his books and saddened at the same time that this is the final book.

Great thoughts, succintly written - Best of the Best
Since reading Mr. Ringer's "Winning Througn Intimidation" several years ago, I have become a great fan of his writing and purchase each new Ringer book as soon as it is published. "Action! Nothing Happens Until Something Moves" is the best of his best. Although it will serve you well to read the entire series, probably in sequence of publication, this book distills Mr. Ringer's basic philosophy into vintage form. The basic philosophy has changed little over the years, but his continuing business and life experiences combined with his ongoing study and perpetual search for enlightenment make this book the one to keep on your shelf to be read periodically. For those of us who tend to study things to death, the message is clear, get off your duff, and make something happen. My suggestion to you is read the book, then take action. You can't lose.

The Best Day to Read this Book is Today
If you find yourself in a bit of a rut...this book will give you the swift kick in the rear-end to make you get going again! If you find yourself choosing among painful options on a regular basis, then he explains how to get out of that situation. (Sorry Canadians - he doesn't offer a solution to that fact that we often find ourselves voting for who we think will be the least painful Prime Minister). And, even if you aren't in a rut, this book is worth a read. You will find yourself referring to it as you face tough choices, mean people or lazy days. The wisdom in the book is never ending in it's daily life applications. My favourite section discusses what Robert Ringer calls "People Taxes". Trying to control or understand other people's actions costs you energy (negative tax). You should limit your time with people who cost you energy and instead seek to spend time with people who are net producers in your life. Many may think it's common sense, but I know how easy it is to find yourself frustrated and wasting energy on a person whose actions you have no control over. The only person YOU can control is YOU. This book is a great reminder of the things you can control and the big impact you can make on your life by controlling those things!

Thoroughly good read.
Hard often to get Robert Ringer books in the UK, always highly readable. This book however has many references to previous books and as such if you have read many of his past books (1970's-1990's) a lot of the stories reappear here so it isn't totally original. The content on "action" though is extremely thought provoking.

Good core message but rambles on
Expected more from this, but it rambles and goes off course, with many stories and annecdotes of Ringer's experiences (Seems to have an issue with waiters & air hostesses!) which don't really relate to taking action. You can get the essence of the book in the first 30 pages and stop there, the rest is pretty rambling filler.
