STM Dux, rugged case for Apple iPad 2, 3, 4 - Black (stm-222-066J-01)

Let me begin by saying I returned this case. I could not get my iPad 4th generation to snap into it, and I was afraid of being too aggressive with it and damaging iPad, case, or both. But this case is well-made. It is sturdy and offers great protection from drops or hits. It is handsome looking, the clear back being a beautiful feature that allows your monogrammed iPad case to show through. Its design makes it easy to stand up for working or viewing. It is significantly heavier than the Apple Smartcase that I needed to replace. If weight is a factor, avoid this case.I wish I were braver and willing to give that extra punch to get iPad into this case because I know it would have served me well, but I do not want to buy a new iPad if I damaged mine trying.

I use a glass screen protector along with the STM Dux rugged case for iPad mini 4 with no problems.When taking it to the shop and back home, I can just fold it up and drop it in my backpack without anyworries about damage. The glass protector is just in case I drop it on the face while the case is open.The case is not water proof but it's not likely to be used out in rough weather like my iPhone.The corners and edges of this case feel like they would do a good job protecting the iPad if dropped.I also like the magnetic latch that would keep the cover from opening if closed when dropped.It's very easy to charge while case is on.The rubber bump outs on the bottom protect the clear plastic from getting scratched and they gripthe table so the device stays put.Flipping the cover around for using on the couch is comfortable. The magnetic flap flips around tofold under and keep the cover secured to the back.There is enough stability to use the case in standing landscape configuration ( just enough ) whenset up correctly.Apple products are not cheap so protecting them with a relatively small investment in a quality caselike the STM Dux rugged case will give you the confidence to take your device with you on the go.To me, a quality case ( along with the glass screen protector ) is better than an insurance policy thatoffers a device replacement that is not necessarily brand new after paying deductible plus all theinconvenience ( no thanks ).YOU'LL LOVE YOUR APPLE DEVICE IF YOU PROTECT IT ! ...OR HATE IT IF YOU DON'T !

The product was searched for an iPod 2 air second generation but ended up too wide. Tried to make it work ,Then tried to take off the cover and reuse it for my existing product. Found it from someone else.

I have had this case for a few months and really enjoy how well it's made, It is very durable and strong. Love the bright pink color. The only minor issue is that when you stand it up on its base, it can easily collapse back down due to the tiny built in nubs. The nubs aren't sufficient enough to properly ensure it staying in place if it gets bumped or is moved by something. It stands up fine in the lower slanted position.

I am architect and have been using iPads for a few years and have gone through numerous covers. I am always scanning the interwebz for a cover that blends good aesthetics, complimenting Apple's great design, while offering maximum protection without turning the device into a 5 pound brick like the Otterbox. I need a cover that is equally equipped to work in a boardroom and on a construction site. Finally I stumbled upon the STM Dux which had a publicized release for the iPad Air. After a little digging I found this one for my iPad 3 and decided to give it a go.I am very pleased. Fit and finish is very nice. Well put together and very tight tolerances. So tight that it was a struggle to install, so don't buy if you plan to remove often. The cover fits very tightly and works well in multiple positions as advertised, snapping closed firmly. The clear back is a nice touch, showcasing the anodized aluminum backside. The case itself is a hard rubber with nice protection around the perimeter and extra reinforced at the corners without adding too much bulk. The texture makes it easy to hold and carry with one hand.Downsides? It is not a light case, but is lighter than some of the heavy duty competitors. The only other issue I can think of is the fact that the volume buttons are hard to push. Perhaps these will ease up over time. I have tried multiple chargers, and they all fit nicely. I have not tried various headphone jacks, I suspect thicker aux sound jacks might have issues, although I usually use Bluetooth for sound. Cutouts all align nicely.All in all this is the best case I have found to date and I have spent more hours searching than I care to admit.UPDATE: I originally gave this product 5 starts, but after using for two months, I am downgrading to 3 stars. The textured black plastic cover has begin to separate from the inner plastic piece in several places, requiring me to keep trying to glue it back together. I still think the basic design is very good, but the materials leave a little to be desired.
