This definitely works for mild urinary tract infections but don't expect an overnight fix. In my case, d-mannose did not work as usual and I did not want to go the antibiotics route. Unsweetened cranberry juice which also normally works for me and Azo cranberry pills only intensified the irritation. I wanted to order this initially but it was a two day wait for delivery and I decided to go to Walgreen's instead. Turns out they don't carry uva ursi at my store (epic fail) and so I tried something I can't remember the name of but it turned my urine orange and was largely ineffective. I finally was able to order this uva ursi as the same day delivery option became available, and some relief came after taking the first dose. I noticed on my next trip to the bathroom that the pain had diminished noticeably. It has not knocked out the inflammation completely yet, though, and it has been a few days. I think at the rate it is going it will be another day or two. It is ok since the pain is mostly gone. I will note that the first recommended dose of this, which is three pills, made me slightly nauseous. This is a potential side effect. I just made sure that I started taking it during or after a meal and haven't had an issue since. It is recommended to take two doses a day with a full glass of water. So, just keep in mind this may work for you if your infection is mild but it may not be a quick fix. I recommend drinking A LOT of water and electrolytes to flush everything out. I was drinking filtered water before but it wasn't until I got some Essentia water and started drinking it with this that I started to feel like I was really improving. I credit these two for getting me about 90% better. Good luck to you! This is one of the things I would try first next time. It is an ancient remedy for a reason.

This product cannot be found locally. A frantic search for it to help with a UTI failed, so I ordered plenty online here. I wanted this product in particular because the research that I looked up indicated that it can knock a UTI out almost instantly. This time my usual cranberry juice, cranberry supplement and D-mannose with Cranactin didn't work. Hmphf! This UTI scoffed at those efforts. Since I didn't have this on hand and couldn't buy it local, I did have to resort to antibiotics. There are still things that I learned that may help other buyers, though. Here goes! The package looks exactly like the picture, except that there is a printed safety seal around the top cap, and then another seal inside the top. Once you remove the inner seal, you can use the flip top. It opens using just your thumb- no need to have nails. Nice! There is a batch number and an expiration date printed on the label (I ordered & received in Feb 2017, the expiration date is 8/2021). These are marked vegetarian, non GMO verified, and gluten free. The clear capsules are "plant-derived." The powder inside is green/brown, and smell spicy. Capsules do not stick to one another and have a uniform appearance. Instructions say to take 3 capsules twice daily, and have some precautions listed. They are the usual cautions (pregnant, nursing, under 12, kidney disease or medications). It also says not to take it for more than 14 days continuously unless otherwise directed by a healthcare professional. I am very happy to see this conservative approach on a product, as I have come across the opposite with indiscriminate marketing. When I looked up the research about Uva Ursi, there was a study that showed great success is having patients with frequent UTIs take it for a year, with no UTIs during that time and no side effects. Of course, that is a pretty extreme indication. If it applies to you, though, then working with your health care provider will help to figure out if that is a good approach for you. Some of the studies questioned whether kidneys would be OK for longer term use. None of the ones that I read documented any problems, yet better to be on the side of caution than in the market for a kidney, right? :) Uva Ursi can be purchased as the higher-priced "standardized" product, or this lower-cost one. I went for lower cost because I will not be on this long-term. If I were, then I would spring for the standardized product. The one that I am reviewing here is marked as having 1.44 g of leaf per serving (3 capsules). This is the first time that I am trying this supplement at all, so a cautionary approach is best. To me, that means "go low, go slow." So, I started with only one capsule instead of the 3, and waited a full 24 hours to see if I would have any bad reactions from it. Then I tried 2 capsules, and finally the 3. Another thing that I do is not to try more than one new thing at the same time, so that if something does not agree with me then I will know what it is that caused a problem. I didn't have any issues with this, yay! Right now, it seems the antibiotic could use some help and I am up to the full dose of this product, so I should be able to report back on it with an update, very soon.

I’ve been fighting a uti since January of this year. Three rounds of antibiotics where it would clear and come right back two days after finishing course of antibiotics. Not wanting to take anymore antibiotics I’ve tried d mannose, probiotics, azo, ellura, vitamin c, & goldenseal, which used to work in combination with ellura to keep the infections clear, but none were completely working. I could clear leukocytes and nitrites but still have a trace of blood on test strips with some days small amount of nitrites depending on activity the night before. Also I would still always have some pain and urgency symptoms. I researched every natural remedy out there and found these. I received these on Saturday night and was in a lot of pain and feeling a uti starting to come back full force. I took one pill (also took a teaspoon of now d mannose powder) because I’ve never taken them before and wanted to make sure I wasn’t allergic. I was so surprised when 1 hr later the pain in my kidney that had been there pretty much since january except when I was on antibiotic, was easing, almost to the point of I didn’t notice it. So I went and took a test and it was completely clear...I was shocked. A few hours before I had dark pink on nitrites and Trace blood showing up on test strip, now after one pill, nothing. Sunday I woke up thinking it probably wouldn’t be completely clear because for once I had slept 6 hrs. without having to get up and pee, but still clear. I took 3 pills spaced out over day, even though it says take 3 at a time, but I’m thinking why take more if you don’t need to. Still clear Monday morning, not sure how long I should take these, I’m probably going to do 5 days and see if that’s works. The side effects do scare me, but so far I’ve had no issues other than they do seem to be a mild muscle relaxant. Which actually made me feel pretty good. I’m praying these are the miracle some say they are...so far so good. If you are having issues with recurrent uti’s, I would definitely give it a try along with the Now D Mannose powder. Maybe some of the side effects people reviewed could have been alleviated if they had cut down the serving. I feel like taking 3 at a time would knock me out, I could definitely see having hallucinations, like some people reviewed, like I said, I just felt very relaxed and slept well on one pill. I’m starting to notice the relaxant effect less with each pill, so maybe start by taking less a dose for a day or two so your body will adjust. I noticed that with other brands on amazon, 1 pill was a serving with same milligrams, so not sure why this one is three pills. I also read to not take vitamin c or cranberry with it, because you want your urine to be alkaline with this medicine. I’m hoping this knocks the infection completely and just doesn’t give temporary relief like cipro. I’ll try to update this review in future since it’s only been two days since I started taking it. So far it’s working faster than a prescription antibiotic. I feel better than I’ve felt in months, no pain, pressure, or urgency like I usually have and it’s only been two days. I use diagnox test strips daily to monitor and will update to let you know if it completely eradicates it, if I can. Hope this helps, I know how debilitating these things are to your well being. Very effective. It's not something you take for long due to liver toxicity in high doses. But it works and I am pleased. I use it to maintainy health. I take breaks and only use it for 3 days and that's iny twice a month. Make sure to read up on it. Drink your fluids but also put back what is loss in electrolytes naturally via REAL coconut water as a replenisher that is packed with natural electrolytes.
