Powerful & effective - the best one I've tried
I've purchased four zapper rackets from Amazon so far:Elucto 2-wire / 2xAA battery / 3200~3500 voltsBlack Flag 3-layer / 2xAA battery / 2750 voltsLanpuly 3-layer / USB rechargeable lithium-ion battery / 4000 voltsZapIt ! 3-layer / USB rechargeable lithium-ion battery / 4000 voltsThe Rechargeable Zap It! is by far the best, due to the grid design and higher voltage. Here's what I've learned so far:3-layer is better than 2-wireExamples of 2-wire, single-layer designs include Executioner and Elucto. To be zapped, the bug must touch 2 wires. It works well for larger bugs but in my experience, small gnats pass right between the wires with no effect. The more common 3-layer design has an inner "hot" grid separated from the outer "ground" layers with plastic spacers. To be zapped, part of the bug has to go far enough in the mesh to touch the center grid. You'd think it would be less effective… but in my testing, it works equally well on large bugs … and much better on small flying gnats.USB rechargeable lithium-ion battery is better than AA batteryZapper rackets are usually powered by two AA batteries or a single USB rechargeable lithium ion battery. AA battery powered zappers are rated between 2750 & 3500 volts while USB rechargeables can go as high as 4000 volts. It’s a difference you can see and hear … and the higher voltage improves the chances of a kill.ZapIt ! USB Rechargeable is the best I've triedOne way to test a zapper racket is to press it against the foliage of a plant with small leaves. It shows how sensitive it is (how many sparks) and how powerful it is (how loud are the cracking sounds)Lanpuly was the first 4000 volt, USB-rechargeable racket I purchased. Doing the foliage test, it didn't work nearly as well as the Rechargeable ZapIt!The voltage is the same so what's different? It turns out the internal gaps between the 3 layers in the Lanpuly are wider … so bugs are less likely to touch the center layer. The ZapIt! grid spacing is closer and in the foliage test, it produces far more and louder sparks. For use on bugs, it's also the best I've tried. As an example of the power and sensitivity, I placed the face of the Rechargeable ZapIt! on a silverfish on the carpet. The result was a loud display of sparks like the 4th of July ! The silverfish was vaporized … and the snapping, crackling sounds were so loud that they startled my wife in the next room !There are three sizes: Mini 16" long x 6.3" wide / Medium 18" long x 7.6" wide / Large 19" long x 8.3" wide. I've tried the Medium and Large and recommend the Medium as the slimmer grip makes it easier to snap your wrist back and forth while also having to hold the power button down with your thumb. There's no reason to get the Mini in my opinion.Note: Amazon also sells ZapIt! rackets powered by 2xAA batteries that are only rated for 3500 volts. Unless USB charging is not available, that option is not recommended.Tip: an iPad USB charger charges faster than a smaller iPhone "cube" chargerI hope this information is helpful !

Great zapper
I like this zapper, works great. We got this to deal with carpenter bees. And boy does it get rid of them. Just a loud pop, and no bodies to dispose of.

Great after modification
Product worked great for several months. However after ~60 wasp kills, the activation button began to fail. While holding the button, the power indicator light would flicker. You can slide your finger around on the button and sometimes that would help, but not always. When battling wasps, "sometimes" isn't good enough. I saw another reviewer mention the use of a toothpick under the activation button to provide consistent power. Sure enough, took the handle apart, the back side of the activation button has a hole that fits a toothpick perfectly. Trimmed one up and stuck it in, since then the swatter has been cooking up wasps without issues.

Easy to use
I love this product. I use it when im folding clothes in the back yard and I see a couple of flies buzzing around. Easy to use. Rechargeable batteries makes it easy to get it back in action.

A naturist’s best friend, a bug’s worst enemy.
I spend a fair amount of time nude on my back porch and if there’s one thing naturists like me hate, it’s bugs. Generally, I live and let live, but biting and disease-spreading insects must go. Self-preservation comes first, after all. To that point, I think this is a brilliant alternative to bug zappers that indiscriminately kill useful insects and rarely kill true pests like mosquitoes. And I refuse to kill useful pollinators like bees unless they were Africanized and actively attacking me.Originally, I planned to buy a salt gun, but then I ran across this and thought it might be more effective. At half the price of such gun and without the need for “ammunition”, I decided to go for it. So far, I have been pleasantly surprised by its performance and by the slightly sadistic bonus of sparks, smoke, and a burning hair smell. One negative reviewer stated that a fly was able to walk around unharmed on the device after they had set it on their desk. Obviously, it will not do anything until it is switched on and the trigger is depressed. My experience so far with fast-moving insects like flies is they are tricky to eliminate. That said, I have killed quite a few flies with this zapper, but it takes some skill and patience. It is best to wait until they land on a soft surface and strategically swat them instead of flailing around in the air like a crazy person. I have even caught them exploring the metal grate when the racket was set down and simply pressed the trigger to eliminate them. What’s even more interesting is watching the ants come along and dissect and carry off the carcasses. Fresh fried fly seems to appeal to their appetites.Technically speaking, battery life is pretty good. I usually charge it after a few days of usage, but have yet to run out of juice. There is no charge level indicator, so I have no idea how many pests one can eliminate on a single charge.Build quality is average. It’s just cheap plastic, so I would avoid smacking it against hard surfaces. If a fly lands on a chair cushion or something, definitely go for a full swat.

Damaged USB port.
USB port was mishandled which makes it difficult to insert the cable. Took a lot of frustrating effort to get it in. Swatter works great once charged.

Bug Zapper
It will definitely zap the bugs but, I wish you could just turn it on and not have to hold the button down on the side. I had planned on placing it over a jar or bowl with something in it to attract flies or gnats but, since you have to hold the button down for it to work, I couldn’t do that. It’s also hard to hit a fly in the air and since it’s plastic if you swat it like you would a regular flyswatter you would probably break it. I did hold it over a pan of food scraps and shook the pan causing gnats to fly up and into the zapper. It does work so, I gave it 4 stars but just wish the design was a little better.
