Game changer
I got this primarily for straining out the fines when I make bone broth. This felt like a splurge purchase, but it is COMPLETELY worth it. It does great for the broth and I've used it for other soups with great results, too. It's surprisingly easy to clean- rinse out from the outside, scrub with soapy rag and rinse, and so far nothing is getting stuck in it like when you try to clean a normal mesh strainer.

Works with my vintage jam cone sieve
I purchased a jam cone sieve from goodwill without a pestle or stand. This pestle works in my sieve to squeeze the excess juice out of the fruit pulp when straining. I use a gallon rubbermaid picture to hold the sieve and collect the juice, works well to stabilize the sieve while pressing the juice out. I would have liked it to be an inch or two longer to keep the fruit pulp from rising up to the knob handle when using it. The finish came off when I washed it, I assume it was a protective wax.

Good for fine-mesh applications
I rarely use this as it's too deep to fit into most pots or any bowls. It has to be held above them with one hand, which is difficult & tiring. Also it doesn't store easily. Nonetheless its fine mesh is perfect for applications such as seeding rasberries, and it is well made.

Talk about "Old School" you can't go wrong...
The ergonomic shape and the organic feel of an actual wood knob make the food milling process very gratifying. For the true connoisseur, this will take you back to the days of yore before automation.

High quality. Perfect for soup making along with a Vitamix. Treat it well because once they get punctured they are useless.

This is a amazing tool!!! I use it to strain the Okara when I make soya milk, and it is so much easier than using cheese clothe or nut bag. I would not want to do without it. It does a perfect job in that regard. The only reason I don’t give it a perfect score is that it does not come with a stand which is very inconvenient. To hold the chinois while draining my milk I presently have to have the chinois resting on two very high containers so as to allow the milk to drain freely into my pot. It’s risky to say the least.
