If you have a gap at the top, it's user error...love this gate. Best I have owned and good looking against light trim.
I say that in my title due to my OWN user error. At first I thought there was a gate issue...I installed it but could not figure out the gap where the gate opening meets the closed fence part.I hate to admit that it was THEN that I read the enclosed sheet. I had read the instructions and this is what I think is the fault with the instructions...this is a pretty important factor that isn't on there, but it IS on a separate sheet that I did discover later. And this is pretty simple. This gate is made so that when you adjusts the knobs correctly on top, you'll see the gate latch close itself. This is done as a safety precaution and means you have installed it correctly. Install it by screwing the knob on one side really far and then the other side very little and the gate won't latch. Very simple--just do them fairly evenly and this gate works FANTASTIC.I have owned several gates. With dogs that want in rooms they don't need in (or God forbid the cat box) I have gone through a few. I don't like wooden ones. They wind up scratching. I don't like ones that zig zag as they don't attach to the wall right and fall over. (I have learned a few things over the years) and I don't like gates I have to use tools to install...no need to mar my walls. I don't want to have to step over gates and I don't want them short with endless attachments to widen them.So let's get to why I am in love with this one then. Medal, it doesn't scratch. I LOVE the gate and how easily it opens when you know how but how impossible it would be for kids visiting to open as well due to how it is configured! It makes it easy to install on your own with zero tools...I just turned the knobs on each end until it adhered to the wall and baseboards. And one side was totally different from the other as it also landed on a door frame yet this made it perfectly easy and straight and sturdy to attach. You can adjust the width with the gate remaining straight. My cats can fit through a wide part of the opening but not my tiny dogs.No need to step over it and knock it down--the gate swings ever so effortlessly and is made well. It also latches back perfectly. My cats used to jump over the old ones and eventually loosen them--this ones just won't budge even with the jumps.More importantly, this is a rare gate that FITS my hallway and looks like it is meant to be there...matching my white trim beautifully.I think this is the 6th gate I've owned. I won't buy another brand. Love. Made to last. Easy to use. I also like how it kind of closes on it's own (though not latching) if I am doing something like bringing laundry through so it looks closed to the dogs but it's not latched.

Great gate for kids and larger pets, not ideal for cats
As a baby or dog gate this would work perfectly. It's sturdy and easy to set up. It fits a wide variety of openings. It's relatively easy to open, close, and lock (the handle on mine is a little stiff, but I'm sure it'll break in with time). It looks reasonably nice. And it's not horrifyingly expensive like some of the other gates I looked at. Overall it's a solid product that works as intended without breaking the bank. And as said by others, read the instructions, your gate's not defective, the "warp" you see goes away once you tighten the top wall cups properly. That said, if you're looking at this to gate in a cat, you might want to look elsewhere. I bought the taller version of this gate when Cocoa was around 6 months, and she easily fit through the bars. I taped cardboard over the gaps, and that was that. One year later, when I moved to a new apartment, she seemed to respect the tall gate without the cardboard, so I assumed she'd outgrown the ability to slip through. Nope. When I set up the new gate, I discovered that there're apparently still a few gaps (namely the one between the door and the rest of the gate, the ones where the bars curve in for aesthetic purposes, and potentially the ones between the gate and the walls, depending on placement) that are wide enough for an average adolescent/adult cat to fit through. Fun times! So I hot glued cardboard panels onto the new one and that was that (again, for some reason she respects the old one as is, cats are weird), but if you don't want to go through the work of covering the whole thing, you should probably look for a gate with narrower gaps between the bars.Unless your cat is Garfield. Then as long as there's no lasagna on the other side of the gate, you should be fine.

Easy to use one-handed with simple latch
This baby gate works great for extra wide spaces. We were in need of one to fit 54” and the adjustable pressure mount worked great. I like the pressure mounted gate since it gave more flexibility working around our baseboards. The gate was very easy to assemble and will be easy to remove when the time comes. I wish it was slightly cheaper, but it is good quality for the money. What I love most about this gate is the easy lift latch. It is very simple to use one handed when carrying a baby, which is essential.
