100% WORKS WITH NINTENDONT (OG Wii without GC ports) ON ALL CONTROLLER PORTS - MOST EXCELLENT!
I purchased this adapter for my Nintendo Wii original (Black model with no GameCube ports or memory card slots on top). With the latest version of Nintendont, it works out of the box. Just make sure you have the switch set to SWITCH/WII-U and it will work no problem. I tested it with 2 official GameCube controllers (Mario Kart - Double Dash) and they worked flawlessly. Make sure you use the black USB connection, not the grey one. The other USB port obviously being used for my hard drive.

Works perfectly!
Works perfectly with the Nintendo Switch, bought it in preparation of Smash and it functions just as intended, no lag or problems in any way. The adapter also lets you use the Gamecube controller on other games not specifically tailored to the Gamecube, the only thing to be aware of is the Gamecube only has 3 trigger buttons instead of the usual 4 on the Joycons, but for games that dont utilize the front left trigger the GC controller is still usable with the game, and this isn't a product fault but simply a difference in the old controller. Here's hoping for some Gamecube rereleases, but well worth the buy anyway if you prefer the GC controller just for Smash Bros.

Just Got It, Seems to Work Well
I just got it so I can use my GC controller with the Dolphin emulator on PC, and after doing a little research, got it to work. You have to download Zadig to fix the driver, and have it set to WiiU/Switch, NOT SET TO PC. Dolphin will not recognize it as a GameCube controller if you have it set to PC. I just tried it out with Urbz: Sims in the City, and it worked perfectly fine. I don't really need the rumble feature, so I'm not gonna bother with that. Only 4 stars, since I had to mess with drivers, instead of just plugging in and using it right away. But, it works (so far). Seems fairly durable if it were to fall from a few feet off a table or desk onto hard floor. It's a decent plastic. USB cords are a decent length, so if you wanted to loop it around behind your computer/desk for cable management, you probably could. Haven't tried out Turbo, but I don't really know what that does, so I'm not gonna worry about it. I just use it so I can play my Sims GameCube games on my PC for easier streaming.

Works well but with one problem
When using the product my computer has a problem where it will freeze before the bios screen requiring me to turn off the adapter before being able to boot my computer. After booting the computer however the adapter works great so until I can get a clear reason behind the error with my computer booting the best I can give it is 3/5 stars.

How do you set it up? I got a second one in the mail for no charge?
I just received this in the mail and I have no idea what I'm doing. Period. There's no manual but appearantly, this according to everyone, it's a "plug in and play" which makes no sense cause turns out you have to install a program called Zadig then set your drivers to do something that makes Dolphin detect the controller. What it does exactly? who knows...but I had no idea I'd become my own technician. Seriously annoying. Anyways, I've spent the better part of 3 hours trying to setup my controller and now dolphin refuses to detect my GC controller DURING gameplay. Can someone help me out? I am frustrated. Is their something I'm doing wrong? I already returned the defective product via USPS but for some reason I got a second adapter in the mail today? idk why but I guess I'll keep it? lol

Works for everything I wanted to do
This adapter works exactly like the official one is supposed to. I've tested it in Smash Bros, Dolphin, and Nintendont. No configuration was needed to get it to work in Smash on the Wii U for me. If you want to use this adapter on a Windows PC with Dolphin, you'll probably want to follow the official directions from the Dolphin wiki - the short version is "Download a utility called Zadig and use it to tell Windows to use the WinUSB driver instead of HidUSB and then Dolphin will see it as a native adapter" but you can find the full instructions by Googling for "How to use the Official GameCube Controller Adapter for Wii U in Dolphin". If you want to use it in Nintendont, you'll need to enable HID devices and use the update feature to download the latest controllers.zip. The GameCube controller won't work in the Nintendont menus, but should work great in the actual games.

If you need more controllers, just buy it
It works as you would expect, just plug it in and plug GameCube controllers in! It's great for Super Smash Bros Ultimate, which was designed with GameCube controllers in mind, but it also works for Minecraft and most likely any other game, just keep in mind that GameCube controllers don't have as many buttons as a pro controller or joycon pairs, so certain things won't work, but for at least Minecraft, you can change which actions are assigned to which button to make up for that. Also once I was playing Super Smash Bros Ultimate with a GameCube controller, and I noticed that the R button wasn't functioning, but my friend's was, so I unplugged my controller and plugged it right back in and that fixed it, so try that first if you have any trouble.

Despite popular belief it does work with the Wii... sort of. Any emulated games just work nicely with it, but you can't use the controllers on the main screen to move the gloves like you could if you just plugged directly in to the white Wii. Still the controllers are recognized in emulated GC games and Wii games that support a classic controller.

For the price it's great. No complaints so far. Does its thing, what more could you ask for. I like that the USB cord that connects to the console is a decent length. That way I don't have to sit in front of the tv in order to play a game. Definitely recommend

I had to return this item. If it works for you then enjoy, but I had very peculiar symptoms with mine. I have an old Wavebird controller from when I had a Gamecube and want to use it with Dolphin emulator. With the switch set to "PC", Windows 11 saw four game controller ports in the "Set up USB game controllers" tool. However, no matter which port I connected the Wavebird receiver to, the PC would not see any button presses or joystick movement. With the switch set to "Wii U/Switch", I could use the Zadig software to change the drivers and Dolphin would see the adapter but, again, no inputs of any type were registered. The wireless receiver would light up when I pressed or moved ony control on my Wavebird controller, so I know the wireless link was working, and I know the USB side was working because the PC and software could correctly see the device. However, this box would not interpret the Gamecube controller serial data properly. I have since purchased the Mayflash adapter and it is working properly.

Just would like to have the wires split for just 2 more inches. I have a docking charger that has to be plugged on the side. I can't plug this adaptor at the same time. If the wires would have been longer I would have been able to plug it in the back and side at the same time. Otherwise works great!!!

I appreciate being able to use my old Gamecube controllers on my Switch after all these years. It's straightforward to use and perfect for those wanting a classic touch on their new games, or for stubborn Super Smash Bros players like me who refuse to use the Switch remotes.
