Great basic calculator (and it does have an off button and a back space/erase key!)
I just received and used this calculator, and it's a steal. It replaces a much pricier HP 12C Platinum Calculator , which I'd gotten about five years ago when I needed the more advanced functions. I'd bought two of the HP 12C's, to have one as backup, and they were nothing like the 12Cs of before -- the keys malfunctioned on both of the 12Cs within just 25-50 uses (sticking and more often, not registering at all) and there was no easy fix. I've been tolerating them for the last few years, assuming that was just how calculators were made these days, but finally had enough. I just need basic calculator functions now, and for that, the Casio MS-80B is perfect. The interface is incredibly user friendly, the keys work flawlessly (so far), the display is large and clear, and the solar power is a bonus. I also wanted to clear up several question re: the MS-80B's keypad functions. This model does indeed have both an 'off' key and a delete/backspace key, which prior reviews said this calculator doesn't have. The picture currently displayed on Amazon's official product page (as of this review, 6/21/15) is wrong and shows model MS-80S, which lacks these two functions. It's possible that prior reviewers got the wrong model (?). The MS-80B has both an off key and a delete/backspace key, which sit on the top row of the keypad. The backspace key looks like a right-pointing arrow. I've attached a photo of the MS-80B so you can see for yourself. In sum, this is a great basic calculator, for an amazing price. I did a quick search of the other basic models available on Amazon, and this appears to be the best in terms of value, build, and reviews. I can't speak to its long-term durability, but for this price, I don't think you can go wrong! 4/7/16 UPDATE: This calculator is used at least weekly and is still going strong. I especially love the large buttons and display, and the solar power. I highly recommend this calculator for anyone who doesn't need advanced functions - from a quality perspective, it easily outperforms my high-end financial HPs (the HPs look more premier, but as I mentioned previously, the models as currently made fail quickly).

Best inexpensive calculator
Perfect in every way. Easy to read, super easy to operate, it is NOT a complicated calculator with a bunch of stuff you'll never use. And the main total/add, plus/minus multiply/divide keys are where they belong, on the far right side! note that many calculators put those one row away from the outer edge rather than ON the edge, and it is just easier & quicker in my opinion to calculate your totals by smacking keys on the edge rather than having to hunt for them in the middle of the keypad. Works in dim light too, compared to other calculators I have used it doesn't seem to need the "full brightness" others require. And it will last you for years. My last one gave me at least a decade and would still be going strong if I hadn't broken it. Looks nice too.

The perfect everyday finger operated calculator!
I make frequent use of a "real" calculator when working at my desk. I don't like the computer calculators which require mouse movement and clicking. I like to use my fingers. I had several calculators around the house (admittedly old ones, but serviceable) but given the lighting conditions in my office the screens were either too dim to show the LED numbers, or I had to tilt the screen to see the numbers, so I finally asked myself "why are you doing this - get a new one!" So I did. I wanted something where the screen was large, easy to read, and already tilted. This one fit my needs exactly. The numbers are very large and legible in even bright light. I really don't need to do advanced math, but I do a lot of percentage calculations, and maybe it's just me, but I could never get the "%" key to give me the percentage the way I wanted to see it. If I want to know (e.g.) what percent of 100 a value of 20 is, I want to divide 20 by 100 and push ONE key and see "20" as the percent. With this calculator, it has a "set %" key which displays exactly that - the number 20 as the percent value. It also has keys for easily adding tax to any value (you can set the tax percent then perform multiple calculations based on that initial tax % setting). And of course it does all the other normal calculator functions. So if you need just a straightforward calculator, and don't need it to have specialized features to do things like easily compute mortgage payments, etc. then this one fits the bill perfectly. Auto shutoff after a reasonable time, solar powered with battery, and above all easy to read!!

Best calculator on the market, it's been in production for over 50 years, it's that good !
This is a GREAT model calculator. I've owned them for the past 40 years. They are solar operated but also have a battery backup and the battery literally lasts for years! After many, many years of use, I did replace my first one and imagine my surprise when I discovered that the exact same model is still being produced. I was thrilled! I replaced my original one and the replacement is working just as good as the original one. My mom recently indicated that she needed a calculator so I ordered this one on Amazon and had it shipped to her. After ordering she wondered if she should have gotten one with bigger numbers, easier to see, but when she received it, she was very happy with it and thanked me again. Here's a tip that I told mom and she loved the idea: Keep the hard plastic container the calculator comes in and store your Casio in it. It keeps it clean and handy. Calculator comes with a small instruction manuel, but it's really user friendly. I can't say enough good about this calculator. I hope Casio NEVER stops making them. Trust me, if you are considering buying a calculator buy this one. You will thank me later!

Perfect Mid-Size Calculator, Great Display, Finger-Friendly Buttons
I don't think I realized how much I relied upon my trusty calculator of the last 10 years until it finally died on me a couple weeks ago. Amazingly, It was just a cheap one, from a discount tool supply company, but I really liked it for it's size, button style and ease of use. I first tried to replace the same model, but could only find it on a couple of obscure sites with outrageous shipping costs, so I knew I had to start fresh and find a different one. I also didn't realize how 'calculator-picky' I apparently am until I started looking at all the calculators on Amazon. I didn't want a small pocket style because both the buttons and display are just too small to use comfortably at my desk, but neither did I want a jumbo desk-size one because I also want to throw it in my purse for grocery shopping. This Casio MS-80B was one of only several I found in a mid-range size, small enough to put in my purse, large enough to use at my desk. It measures about 5 1/2 inches top to bottom and about 4 inches wide. There were a few other features I wanted, which I found in this model. I wanted one with either battery only or solar with battery back-up. I don't care for solar-only ones because they tend to fade if the light isn't bright enough, at least in my experience. And I wanted it to have an OFF button, which is strangely hard to find on solar/battery-combo models, I'm not sure why. Yes, it shuts off automatically after being idle (about 6 minutes with this model), but I personally like to shut it off when I'm done. Maybe it's one of my OCD traits, but I can't stand leaving it there and waiting for it to shut off. So this does have an OFF button. I'm also button-picky! I hate the kind with rubber/soft/grippy buttons that can be hard to press and are silent. I like to hear a little clicking and clacking as I punch in my numbers, and this has hard plastic buttons and a soft but audible tapping sound; perfect. It registers entries easily and consistently with a fairly light touch. One feature I don't love, but will deal with, is the % use. My old calculator worked liked this: 30 - 10 (% button) = 27. With this Casio, that same scenario requires: 30 x 10 (% button) then - (minus button) = 27. Alternatively, you can hit the + (plus button) at the end of the same equation to add that percentage; meaning 30 x 10 (% button) + (plus button) = 33. Additionally, you can see the amount of the percentage before you hit + or -, in this example; 3. So it's not a bad thing, it's actually more detailed this way, but it's a few extra/different buttons in the equation and it will take a little getting used to, but I'll adjust to it and it's worth it to have all the other features that are more important to me. Quick note about the orange buttons: C clears the last entry only, and AC clears everything. There is also a backspace button (the arrow button in the top row) that backspaces one digit, which is very handy. 1234 (backspace button) becomes 123. I've never had that feature on a calculator and I like it. It also shows commas in larger numbers, which is nice. I can't speak on the memory buttons or tax features because I have no use for either and know nothing about them. It comes with a small pamphlet which I couldn't fairly call a manual that does show some basics, but nothing very detailed. I saw at least one review that mentioned it wobbles and/or is unstable on the desk. I don't find this to be true to any bothersome extent. There is a SLIGHT wobble when I hit the OFF button only which is at the upper left corner, but by then I'm shutting it off so who cares. The wobble may vary on each calculator made, I can't say, but for me it's not the least bit bothersome. The display numbers are fairly large and the contrast is excellent. The overall look is nice, with a brushed metal back panel on the front and a sleek design with a fixed tilted display. Other than getting used to the new way of using the percentage button and the lack of a decent manual, I really have no complaints, and I'm admittedly very picky with calculators. Oh, one last thing to mention: Apparently the photo for this model used to appear incorrectly, based on many reviews I've read. The model I received was the same as what was shown, which is Casio MS-80B. You can confirm this by looking at the model # on the unit pictured to make sure it's correct, but Amazon has apparently corrected whatever wrong model used to be pictured.

Great For Senior Citizens
Great little calculator for a senior citizen. I have some arthritis in my hand and I am able to access keys with no problem. I also like the large display panel. Price was reasonable as well.
