Good little fan
This fan is not a powerhouse, but I have it close and it does a fine job of moving air around and it is helping me turn my AC off. I love the design and it looks and feels high quality and durable. It is quiet and the blades are made of cloth. It’s quiet and stays cool to the touch. The blades will not hurt when you touch them. When I saw no cord in every picture I asked Rufus AI if it had a cord and if not what powers it? Rufus told me it has no cord and didn’t know what powers it. I had already purchased it and was getting ready to send it back after it arrived. It has a cord. I asked Rufus again after I received it and Rufus was updated. I was asked if I noticed that Rufus the ai had learned. Rufus almost caused me to cancel the order with bad information.

Quiet Airflow in a Small Package
These fans are amazing and so powerful and quiet. That was what I was looking for a few years ago when I bought my first one to sit on my desk at work. The main fan housing is hard plastic on a metal stand, and the unit can fold up to make it more compact if storing or carrying. Small but powerful, and the fabric "blades" are soft. I don't know how many times I've hit them, even when bending down and they hit my face. Like a clawless cat's powder puff paw hitting you, so these would be safe used around children or pets (my opinion.) I bought two more just to have as spares. 100% recommend.

Simple, quiet, small, effective. Enough air to do the job - and no more.
When I was trying to find a small quiet fan, I felt silly reading dozens of reviews of dozens of fans. Now I feel even sillier writing one.... But this fan is worth the silliness. 1) This is small (2-3 fists (pinky down, thumb up) tall x 2-3 fists wide including the blades while running) - or just get a tape measure and look the dimensions. 2) quiet. The previous fan for wood drying (heat with wood) was a fixed blade (this fan has cloth blades that make it quieter) that I could hear from 30 feet away at night. This one I can't hear. 3) Moves enough air to dry firewood or cool electronics (2 actual usages to date - yes, I've bought two). I believe that most folks want more air to move past them than is necessary for effective cooling. This certainly won't make for a dramatic movie scene with your hair blowing in the wind - but you don't actually need that much airflow to cool - the air can slowly wash over you and collect heat, them move that heat away from you. 4) safe - the blades are cloth (I know it sounds crazy but trust me - it works). If your hands hit the blades (no blade cage as it isn't necessary), they don't hurt at all. My kids play with the fan the use to cool them down while practicing band. They prefer the sound and feel of the cloth blades flicking past their fingers over spending time practicing - yes it is a regular discussion point as to whether that counts as practice time (spoiler: it doesn't). 5) can't say how it would be for travel from 1st hand experience but I suspect it would be great if your purpose is cooling. If you are after white noise, then not so good. Gave it a speculative 4-star for travel. It would travel well as the cloth blades can't break when packed or stuffed into a bag. 6) on/off is behind the fan and it can be a little 'daunting' to reach over the fan to turn it off. It actually isn't daunting at all as the blades have not cage around them (not at all necessary - reduces bulk). The blades don't hurt at all if they hit you - they'll just startle you and make a 'flapping' sound. Once you play with for a band-practice minute or two, you'll adjust to the sound and think nothing of it if you happen to hit the blades. tldr; Well build product that works very well. Would be awesome for small desk fan in office or spot cooling (electronics) or drying (wood, drying rack, etc). If you want white noise or your hair to be blown back you'll be disappointed (and I suspect you should think about how much cfm you actually need or expect for a 2 1/2 fist x 2 1/2 fist fan).

Niche Fan
I've had my Zippi for several weeks and it's working out well for me. Pros: It is surprisingly heavy and has a non-skid stand so I don't have to worry about it falling off whatever surface I put it on. It is a little larger than I expected but I like the fact it's not battery-powered like other personal fans. And it generates more air than those little fans if placed the same distance away. When I'm at my desk, I dislike dead air and need a fan. But I don't want to have to put weights on top of all my receipts to keep them from blowing off my desk and the Zippi gives just enough air circulation, but no more. And it's as quiet as I had hoped. Though not silent, I tend to forget it's on. Cons: The fan seems powerful, but it doesn't translate into as much air as I would expect from the size of the motor. I think they could have come up with fan blades which would have been more effective at pushing air than the stitched nylon strips they used. They're like tiny little narrow black pillow cases and are slightly puffy now that they've been used. I wonder if Vornado had used a blade that was more curved and single-ply, it might send off more air. But then it might injure a finger, too. Still, there are times when I wish I could crank up the air as an option, even if normally I'd use it just where it's set now. I personally would make sure I was able to put it at least 15 inches away from me. I have mine 3 feet away. I'm not sure if electric motors are unhealthy, but why not err on the side of caution? Bottom line: I'd buy it again. It fits right between a traditional fan and those little, useless personal fans. It handles the task. Just. If you compare it to a regular Vornado fan, it will fall short. If you compare it to those little battery operated personal fans, you'll be pleased.

Works for odd jobs...
I bought this fan for a rather odd reason. I have an HDTV set top box with a DVR. This particular model puts off a lot of heat for whatever reason. Since it is not mine, but the cable company's, this doesn't bother me. However, they do NOT suggest putting it INSIDE an entertainment center. This just did not work with me, as I have just bought a new house, and entertainment center to go with it since my wife doesn't like my electronics to "show." Needless to say I did not heed their warning, and over time I just forgot about it. I notice the machine getting hot, and every now and then I would get "sparkles" on my screen. I passed it off as "bad" reception for HD channels for a time until it got worse. Then I started to think it was my inferior cables. I replaced my cables only to find little to no improvement. Then I started read more about HDMI and thought about the HD tuner itself. It had been getting hot, really hot, but I had a lot of room above it for the hot air to escape (about 6 inches open at the back). But evidently that was not enough. Even the wood above the HD tuner was hot to the touch. So, I increased the height above the HD tuner to about 14 inches and I bought this fan. Inside this space (about 14h x 20w x 24d) this little fan cools it down dramatically. The massive amount of heat generated by my HD tuner dissappates completely and the ambient temperature of the space now feels cooler than the room it is in. Even the surface of the HD tuner feels cool to the touch. I exchanged the tuner and have had no problems ever since. As far as I am concerned, this is a great demonstration for an itty bitty fan. A fan with the name Zippi certainly doesn't sound designed or marketed to do big jobs. The ad is a bit misleading, and I am sympathetic with those who were taken by the way the ad was written or put their stake in the Vornado name as building massively powerful fans. This fan is far too small to cool a room, but it is quiet and can cool a small space with great efficiency. The lack of a "cage" makes the soft blade approach necessary to keep you from needing band-aid when you approach the spinning "blades" with ungarded fingers. It is so quiet I cannot even hear it whirring away inside my entertainment center, which is quieter than my computer by a mile. I think this is a great fan for special tiny applications and the looks are great. The all black model is quite invisible setting on top of my HD tuner behind the glass of the entertainement center door. My wife was surprised when the blades "bit" her hand when she stuck her hand to feel how cool it was in there. She actually didn't see it! But, if invisibility is not your desire, the other colors look quite cool to me. Overall a great product.

Nice Personal Fan, Whisper Quiet - My Wife Loves It
My wife is in sales and works with all women at her work place. Her office is small and the number of employees is less than 10. For some crazy reason every single one (with the exception of my wife) can't handle ambient temperature lower than 75 degrees. They all complain that the office is "too cold" and they keep the office thermostat at 77. 77 DEGREES!!! My wife is more acclimated to colder temperatures but when she goes to work, she complains about how hot it is and that it's an ongoing battle with her coworkers sneaking and changing the thermostat. They pretty much sweat her out in the summer season. While in the winter, this normally isn't a problem because my wife can crack a window or door open to alleviate the heat. However in the summer, your only option is a fan. So she tasked me of getting a fan. The key with fans is to get a nice balance of noise/air flow. If you get a fan that's too quiet, then it doesn't push enough air. If you get one that pushes lots of air, it tends to be noisy. After reading various reviews online and comparing Amazon reviews, I decided that the Vornado Zippi fan was the one to get her. She of course, opted for the white one over the other colors available on Amazon. The nice thing about this fan is that it's compact and very portable. It holds its position vertical position really well and doesn't "sag" over time despite the weight of the fan. The blades are soft cloth and appear flimsy. While you wouldn't imagine soft cloth blades would be very good at pushing air vs plastic fan blades, these do surprisingly well. As the description suggests, the blades are also safe to the touch when the fan is operating. Unlike other plastic fan blades that accumulate dust and rarely get cleaned, the Zippi is easy to clean with it's "open" design. The shell of the blades are made of some kind of nylon-like material. These you can just wipe down with a damp cloth or paper towel to remove any accumulated dust. Last but not least, the fan comes with two speed settings. Both push a decent amount of air while balancing the perfect sound ratio. It's not loud at all on either setting, so you don't have to worry about noise pollution/offending people next to you nor do you have to worry about the fan drowning out other noise. I rate this fan 5 out of 5 stars. The design of it is nice/hip and it's perfect for an office environment. My wife loves it and it keeps her sufficiently cool while at work. In fact, she likes it so much, she wants me to buy another one for her to keep at her bedside.

Sleek, hip, cool, quiet personal desktop fan. Love it! Bought a 2nd one.
Edit / Update: Upon taking down this fan I noticed its insides and intakes were covered in dust. I didn't realize and never cleaned it. That's totally what led to the motor overheating. I'm sure it would have continued working for many years if I just took care of up. I've updated my score to 5 stars. Original review: Love this fan. I've used it as a "desk' fan pretty much daily for hours a day. I put desk in quotes because I actually mounted it above my desk hanging upside down to save desk space. The engine finally burnt out just now. It was really hot to the touch which I never noticed before. It's pretty quiet, but noticeable even across the room if there's no other noise. If I forget to turn it off it's too loud to just kept it running, I have to get up and turn it off. The safety nylon "blades" are great, you can stick your finger right in without worry and it still pushes sufficient air. IMHO the power is perfect for a desk fan that's kept aimed right at my face, anything more and it might be irritating. I love the style and design, its the main reason I looked at this fan. My only gripe is that it should have lasted longer. I saw another review that said his lasted for 7 years, that would have been awesome. Still, I'm buying another one.

Should be 3 & 1/2 stars. Decent, small, quality fan but doesnt stay in position well
This is a good fan, that just happens to miss the mark in one category that holds it back. I wish I could give it 3 & 1/2 stars. Pros: Small moves air strongly and well I like the soft fan blades. Makes me feel safe with it on my desk (only one, but substantial) Con: It's hard to explain, but this fan can only tilt up and down on a specific hinge the fan rests on. I had this exact same model in the past, it lasted me years no problem. I bought a new one after my old one broke, and this identical model just does not do a good job keeping itself in place. I tilt it up to face my face.... and 20 min later I notice that the weight of the fan is too strong for the hinge it tilts on, thus making the fan tilt slowly backwards, away from where I set it. This is particularly frustrating as the older model I had to replace did not have this issue, but this one does. Overall, it is a good fan for a decent price. Maybe I got a bad one, but constantly having to monitor and adjust the fan has proven to be frustrating. I also cannot find a way to tighten this hinge myself, to fix the issue.
