Not very convenient
The tray is made entirely of plastic and doesn't seem like it will hold up well with regular use, especially the hinges. The handle has a hinge on each side. There are buttons that you need to push out so the hinges can move. They are then held in place by a notch in the plastic. I can't see that lasting very long.I have been able to use mine one handed (sort of). The button on one side stays out so to lift the handle I just need to push the one button out and pull the handle away. I am able to do this using one hand for the button and then pulling the tray against my body or using my knee etc to lift the handle. It's a bit fiddly, but possible. I don't know if that will be the same with all trays or if mine just has a lose hinge. The handle is not comfortable to hold and leaves the tray at an awkward angle. I find myself having to use my wrist a lot to keep the tray stable. You can even see in the product image that the model is holding the tray awkwardly. Honestly I think I would find using the tray more awkward than carrying things by hand, even if it took multiple trips. The tray also does not come with a non-slip mat. I don't know it it says it does in the description, but since the pictures show one I thought it would be worth mentioning. The tray is light and as long as you're okay with the awkward holding and it potentially not lasting very long it would work. For me it isn't worth it, but it definitely still could be for some people. There are limited options for things like this and I'm not sure any of the other plastic trays I've seen would be any better than this one. This tray could definitely do with some more thought into making it more comfortable and user friendly. But I don't think it's totally useless and it could still be worth people trying it for themselves.Personally I've ended up finding the Tipsi Tray is better. It has it's own issues and I was actually expecting to prefer this tray. But this tray has ended up being too awkward for me to find worth it, especially if it won't last long either. The Tipsi Tray is far heavier than this, but I also find it far easier to balance and move around which for me ultimately makes it more usable.

Wish I'd got one years ago
We have workmen in doing our garden and this has proved invaluable. So much easier to transport teas and coffees. Washes up easily. Haven't had problems with a stiff handle. Bought without gripper mat and bought this separately. Cheaper this way and you get more replacement matting.

Misleading picture of the tray.
Disappointed. The picture of the tray with an anti slip mat. The instruction leaflet states that the Freehand Tray has a silicon non-slip mat. However there is NO NONE-SKIP MAT INCLUDED. This is blatant form of misinformation, and this needs to be addressed by Amazon and the suppliers.

A really useful well made product.
If, due to mobility problems, you have to use a walking stick to get about, this Tray is a Godsend. It’s very well balanced and so you can be confident of putting a plate of food and a drink on it, and carry it from one room to another without spillage. It’s very well made and easy to clean.I would thoroughly recommend it.

I would recommend this tray
Yes, very sturdy and folds down flat when needed. Can’t fault it.
