Nancy Duarte is the real deal. Persuade=Inspire+Engage+Sell!
For those who also read Resonate and Slide:ology, you will find the new HBR Guide to Persuasive Presentations a useful and compelling tool. Having worked with Nancy's team at Duarte Design, earlier this year, I found this ebook to be a useful receipt from that experience, reminding what is valuable when preparing to create and deliver an impactful presentation - especially to busy, distracted, high-powered executives. As in her other works, Nancy is authentic, practicing what she advocates by cleanly organizing her guidance and delivering it with passion. This book adds nicely to her volume set, adding useful tips on building relationships via social media channels and following-up with your audience after you've delivered.I recommend this handy ebook to my colleagues and my clients, as well as to my proteges who are learning - through practice - the art of tech entrepreneurship and strategy at Stanford, NUS (Singapore), KTH (Sweden), etc.

Much better than I thought it would be. You need this if you do presentations.
So I enjoy the previous work of the author so I expected it to be good, but thought it might be a little stale or textbook, not at all.Read this if you want to improve your presentations. Whether for business, pleasure or whatever this lays out a very nice formula, some good examples and an extremely structured view of how to approach presentations. This doesn't focus on slides and visuals like her previous work (though that was excellent in it's own right). In fact this book can guide you on how to do presentations without slides.Overall it's interesting, engaging, and extremely informative.

Discover how to be more persuasive when you present in person or in the virtual world
It doesn't matter if you are pitching to investors, speaking at a conference, presenting to the board of directors of your company or engaging your team about the forthcoming strategic plan, we all need to be persuasive in our commununication. In Nancy Duarte's new book she presents useful tips delivered in quick to read chapters, to help you in the process of planning your presentation through to the follow up after your talk. This book is ideal for the busy executive who wants a reminder of the key areas to cover in their preparation for an important presentation. But it is also relevant for the student who is presenting to their class.Nancy includes tips for delivering virtual presentations such as webinars and teleseminars and also share ideas about how to build relationships and access feedback about your presentation through social media (especially relevant if you are speaking at public events and conferences). This is not the book to purchase if you are looking for guidance on how to design your slides (Nancy's organisation does provide cost effective templates if you do not have an in-house designer and need help to visualise your ideas) - for that you may want to check out Garr Reynolds book Presentation Zen: Simple Ideas on Presentation Design and Delivery (2nd Edition) (Voices That Matter) .Even if you are seasoned professional speaker I am confident you will benefit from reading HBR Guide to Persuasive Presentations (Harvard Business Reveiw Guides) if you are like me and constantly evaluating how to improve you delivery and impact each and every time you present.

Must have For anyone who does or supports presentations for a living!
As a senior graphic designer who supports executive engagement on a daily basis, this guide is a must have! It is so good that I bought a copy to bring to the office for the other stuff to learn from. In case you’re not aware the author and her company, Duarte design, helped Al Gore win an Academy award for the an inconvenient truth documentary.

Best "bite-sized" resource on the topic!
The tips in this book went beyond cookie-cutter presentation tips and offered useful, immediately applicable suggestions to improve presentation writing and delivery. I purchased the book after listening to the audio version so I'd have a hard copy to access anytime and take notes in. Highly recommend!

Best of the bunch
This is really the only Duarte you need to buy, if you're looking at her body of work and wondering. No, it doesn't have all the layout stuff that Slideology has, but after reading all her stuff (library and purchased), I feel like this would have been the one to focus on (although it was published AFTER I had read through all her others). I feel it's the most practical, and jettisons some of the fluff you find in her other books. I have highlighted, dog-eared and stickie-taped throughout this whole book.

Great guide, quick read
This guide from HBR was concise and well-crafted. Believing this book would take days to read, I was surprised to finish it in an afternoon. I couldn't put it down, which says a lot for a nonfiction.Though the guide contains some "no-s***" recommendations, it has increased the quality of my business presentations, which is exactly what it aims to do. I would recommend it for anyone who speaks in front of a group of people.

Use PowerPoint MUCH more effectively
I chose this rating because:1. Ms Duarte is an experienced expert in the mechanics, art, and engagement of presentations; see her YouTube videos to judge for yourself.2. Her how-to information is bite-sized and therefore easily understood. Each concept is from 2-4 pages in length and supports its thesis.3. She covers ALL the topics from the mental how-to-persuade to pre-checking your presentation technology (where's your VGA cord?)Nice job!
