For bed-time stories, read ahead! Plan the accents!
If you are reading this for your children, it pays to read and plan ahead. If possible, read all the stories!I appreciate that sounds odd, and expensive, but you will probably buy them all anyway...And why? Because over the next few weeks as you read the books, you'll find certain characters cropping up. You need to think about a) their voices and accents,b) adding special emphasis to certain characters who re-appear later, andc) dropping certain vocabulary or factoids into conversation ahead of actually reading the story, which saves time at bed-time and also makes conversations more fun with your children as they realise that you are laying a breadcrumb trail, as it were.Count Olaf, for example, is described as having a hoarse voice, so practise it in different accents. The hook-handed man re-appears, so give him a distinct accent, and be ready to use it with Fiona in book 11, as she is his sister (I chose Northern Irish). Esme Squalor re-appears in disguise at one point, so try to give her a distinct voice which you can imitate in two different accents (as Officer Luciana, I gave here Deep South Accent, whereas as the city's sixth-most important financial advisor she spoke with cut-glass received pronunciation). Mr Poe is Victorian, Phil the optimist was from Somerset, the VFD villagers all spoke with Scottish accents, the people in and around the Hostile Hospitals were all Australians and so on...

Omg best book ever thought about it and I think the same thing happens in the first place. The only one who has a lot of people is the same book and I think that the neck of history in the first time since I was going to aunt Josephine the same thing has been in a lot of heaven and earth is the same thing has been in the first place for the same thing has been in the first place for the same thing has been in business administration and I think it was going to aunt the same thing to go back to the first half of the neck and earth is the neck pain and suffering from a variety of the first place of the first place in business administration of history in the world of heaven is the same book and I put the neck and earth is not a variety and suffering from an article on my money is going through my Amazon and suffering of heaven forbid to go through a kin to go to my account and earth day for me is not responsible to go through the neck pain of history at a kin and suffering a variety in this country has to go back in a lot to my money back guarantee of heaven forbid and earth's climate of history and suffering of heaven is going on in business for some of history at least two weeks

Great books
The books came in great condition. I was worried about buying used books online, and I was not disappointed. Neither was my son. It came faster then expected too.

My child is hooked
My kid loves these books. As a parent I have tried to instill the love of reading into my son and it has gotten easier overtime and we are reaping the benefits of the improved reading. Sometimes it was difficult to match the content level with his advanced reading level in addition to his interest in the content itself, however these books have seemed to be a perfect storm of sorts. He is 9 but reading at a 12th grade level and it wasn't until this series that we really saw a passion for reading show, he always liked it and did it daily but never sought it out as feverishly as he did with this series, he is sharing the story with us in addition to laughing and enjoying himself. I highly recommend them and we now own them all.

And more
As the tragic tale of the Baudelaire orphans continues, Violet, Klaus, and Sunny are sent to live and work at a lumber mill. Almost too late, the children uncover Count Olaf's evil plan and associate's disguises. The only thing that can save them is if Violet is able to take over her brother's role as the voracious reader, and if Klaus can take over his sister's role as an inventor. There isn't nearly as much new vocabulary in this story. Instead, as the children problem solve, there is much attention paid to how to navigate a nonfiction book (how to use the features of the text, such as the table of contents, to find information) and what to do when you come to a word you don't know. The author uses several illustrations of Violet coming to unknown words in a text, skipping over them, and using the context clues to make sense of the selection.

Brave through it!
This book starts out INCREDIBLY slow with the Baudelaire orphans on a train. Several years ago, I stopped reading this book and totally ignored the series. Then, about 3 years later, I decided to give it another try. The book really is fantastic, and Lemony Snicket truly is a literary genius. The second half of the book is excellent, and the entire series is wonderful. In my opinion, the series really takes off with the Ersatz Elevator (Book the sixth). That is my favorite book in the series.

The misserable mill
Hasta este momento en mi opinión es una entrega poco aprovechada, se resuelve bastante rápido y no se saca mucho juego a los elementos incluidos, contando con una trama principal bastante intrigante, sin embargo como el resto, completamente recomendado

Siblinghood!
We bought the whole series. This was a missing book. My kids love the series. Hilarious approach by Lemony. Great siblinghood portrayed in the book.

A pleasant pastime not only for kids
This book series caught my attention because of the Netflix series with Neil Patrick Harris. And as I usually like reading the original books before watching a movie / series, I gave this one a try.It is quite entertaining and very easy and fast to read. I really enjoy the lecture especially after a long and stressful working day (so far I have read books 1 - 6). This book series is just something you can switch your head off and can read it through without the need to concentrate too much. The way Lemony Snicket writes is very easy to follow and just makes you keep reading, even though the events in the book are predictable. The illustrations by beginning of every chapter in the Kindle version are a welcome change! The only thing I do not like is the patronising way to explain 'difficult' words - of course those stories were written for children but even then I don't think that that much explanation is actually needed.
