Good For large family
Perfect for large family. Gives you extra space. Assembly is not straight forward for first time but once you learn its easy…

The worst thing Coleman have ever produced
This is, without doubt, the worst product that Coleman have ever made. The instructions in the pack bare no resemblance to the instructional video they provide. They imply that it will be up in minutes. Like any other Coleman product. Our 8 man tent has a record time of 14 minutes. Our gazebo five. This? This has taken two hours and is still not up right. We're seasoned campers and used to Coleman's gear, pretty much everything we sleep or eat under, they've made. The trademark colour coding? Not here (but claims on the instructions that it is!) The instructions tell you to put the poles in before you have to, meaning you can't put it up.The outdoor space it provides is pitiful and we're going to struggle with two of us in it. If you've taken four in your 8 man tent, don't even consider it for a second and get a gazebo.I would post a video, but it would be of the now inevitable divorce we're going to have after trying to put up this extension.

Not the easiest but welcome added space
We put our Coleman Octagon 8 up in about 5 minutes, this took much longer! Had to watch a youtube video a number of times to understand how to place the straps over the top of the tent to get it in the right position. Once up though it gave us enough space to store our kitchen and other stuff but I wouldnt call it spacious. Loved that the door can be made into a canopy with the supplied poles as this gave extra sitting space and shade in the heatwave while we camped. I wish the windows had zip up blinds though.

Coleman Extension
Compact, not bulky. Kept everything dry. But felt it was difficult to put up. Don't know if that was just me! Other than that it's great.

I'm sure it's high quality, but...
The instructions are awful; and I hasten to clarify I am not particularly bad at tent assemblage. To give you an idea, I assemble and take apart the Octagon this was designed to attach to, completely on my own, from the first time. But this porch, supposedly made by Coleman, no less, made me scratch my head. To begin with, some of what should be guy ropes are actually the kind of fabric tape you get on the shoulder straps if a back pack?? This means they get soggy as soon as it rains or condensation happens, and the bottom parts soak up mud. They're also not finished properly – how am I supposed to book them onto the tent pegs. The instructions at this point are a joke –they just show you the thing already laid out 😂😂😂.Then you're supposed to lay the back of the porch over the tent and just somehow secure it round the roof and down the sides of the Octagon, the Octagon ends up deformed and you have soggy backpack straps in direct contact with the roof. ??? There is no anchorage point, no place to attach so you know you have the correct positioning, so you end up going round the tent five or more times readjusting until you get tired, because there is no right way to set it up. Then you set up the front and readjust another ten times...Meh... I'm sorry, but this not the Coleman standard I'm used to.

Causes arguments haha
Ridiculously hard to put up! We had the actual Coleman octagon tent up in about 15 mins or less and this we were at for about two hours trying to get right in the end we stuffed it back in the bag and didnt use it! I have no idea what we're doing wrong as we followed instructions and YouTube videos.. such a disappointment.

ripped first use - coleman not reposnding
item ripped upon first use and therefore cannot be used as cannot hold up. Outside amazon window and Coleman not responding at all. Terrible. Going to have to raise a case with the bank for a refund.

Good but not great
There are many pros and cons to this extension.Cons:Tricky first time to put up & definitely need 2 people. Instructions aren’t amazing at where the top point is meant to sit.You need a tarp for the floor of it. Some places I read about this said it was enclosed and even said added extra space for someone to sleep. In my opinion this would not be an optionGot very wet on the inside at night so water was dripping down the sides. In downpours you need to keep clearing the awning part or it will collapse. Or close the awning!!ProsI love the tent but it’s lack of a porch was a big negativeThere is good space in the extension for wet gear and boxes in the sides.Great to be able to leave wet stuff, shoes etc in porch at night. We got awful rainstorms so it was nice to sit under the awning but we were 2 adults and 2 small children…. Any more and it would be a squeeze. The tent and awning really stood up to awful rain and thunderstorms. Where the awning met the tent there was not any leaks which was great, the front of the tent remained dry.Although it’s not perfect I think overall if you’ve invested in the octagon Cortes and you like it, this extension is a good addition.
