Quint Measuring Systems FC36 Flexible Curve Ruler, 36-Inch

While this flexible curve measuring stick is definitely useful for some things, I was a bit disappointed in it overall.For starters, it comes in a package all rolled up. I've had mine out of the packaging for months now and it still has random bends throughout its length. While this might not be a problem for some flexible measuring purposes, I was trying to work a more gradual curve over a stretch of about two feet or more in marking a project. Even though those "random bends" from the packaging aren't permanent (in that you can straighten them out with your hands), the odd bend still tends to pop out a bit here and there when doing a longer-length gradual curve. As a result for these types of more gradual curves, I've found that the curve provided by this measuring stick isn't very accurate. For these type of curves, I'm finding that a tool with a much tighter flex works better than this Quint measuring stick in maintaining a uniform gentle curving.Also, while it will make fairly tight curves, it is necessary to hold the flexible measuring stick in place as you do the markings since it won't hold its shape on its own.Because of its lead core, this flexible measuring stick is fairly heavy which is nice. I checked the measurements and they appear to be accurate with inches (down to a 1/16") on one side and metric on other side (centimeters are marked as well as individual millimeters).

Does not hold shape very well, tends to flex back and sag under its own weight. The center section is better than the ends, but that means you can't use the full length and have to mark what range you used. I'm hoping that leaving it straight and a little bit of use (and possibly heat) will soften the plastic so that it holds the shape without returning.The very ends, like the last inch, extend past the 36" ruler but are not flexible at all (or rather they don't have the core). Also, the marked ruler part tends to shift around by about quarter of an inch relative to the plastic and core. That may be an issue for some people.Lastly, it only flexes on one axis, so you can only capture a two dimensional slice -- that's probably OK for most folks, but FYI

I bought this flexible curve to use for fitting clothing patterns. It's an amazing item for anyone who sews clothing to have in their tool chest! This has just the right amount of flexibility to curve around and measure hard to fit areas of the body but holds its shape enough to transfer odd curves to flat patterns. Initially, I was hesitant about purchasing this item as the company was unknown to me. Now I'm very glad I did as it meets my needs perfectly for roughly half the price of a similar, competing product from another seller. Also, it arrived earlier than the scheduled delivery window. I highly recommend both this product and seller.

The one that I received had a center that was a full inch+ shorter than the vinyl covering. You could shake the thing and feel the center of it moving up and down. I questioned this and was told that "they are all that way". It is probably OK for most uses, but there may also be a time when it isn't.

I didn't know what to expect with this ruler but I liked it. I used it to make curved lines for my project. I felt it did what I bought it to do but didn't exceed my exceptions at all

This is such a useful tool to gauge what your pattern should be adjusted for with crotch depth, width, and for other measurements.the price is worthwhile if you are fighting adjustments as well.It is a great help, especially if you are struggling with fitting, and do not have a body double. A lot easier than searching for one at a fabric store that might not have it, or have one that is shorter.

I bought this flex ruler for designing feathers on quilt tops. The extra length is WONDERFUL, especially in bindings. It holds it's shape and the ends are no less flexible than the shorter versions (meaning that the ends won't bend if the curve is too tight). Because of this, it is very helpful to have the longer ruler. Calibrations are clear and easy to read (I did not check for accuracy as I don't need that). Great product, no problems.

Works good, but does not hold its shape as well as I had hoped.
