This is a truly great controller with virtual DJ. I am exceptionally happy with it. I don't know if the volume output level sucks as some other reviews say because I use a usb DSP for output. But I can say that the build quality and functional control offered by this are top notch. Personally I had no other choice as I wanted a clean look and layout and full support from virtual dj and in my opinion this was the only dj controller on the market that offered that. So I'm glad it worked out.

Great Pro deck for controlling Traktor. The S3 is NI’s middle level controller. A bit bigger and boasts more features than the S2 but not as overpriced (IMO) as the S4. For me, this is the perfect Traktor deck. I have mine configured with two track decks, a sample deck plus one live input for a small synth. Highly recommend.

The headphone volume is so low you can’t mix. It’s a shame that no one has done anything to correct this issue!

This dj controller/software is awesome... It allows for creativity and flexibility, more than any other controller.. pair it with any maschine drum pad to keep the dance floor packed.

Very low headphone output even when headphone volume turned up 100% using 50m Pioneer driver headphones. Compared to S4 MK3 which I own, sound quality on the S3 is noticably much thinner/brighter. Master volume knob does not change the Master volume level meters -- master volume level meters default to a summed line levels of all the four channels, making it unclear how the master volume knob is controlling master gain other than by listening. this is in contrast to the S4, and any other mixer which has the master volume knob and associated master volume level meters change with turning the knob. Checked with support and found varying discussions on low volume and inconsistent user experience with volume and level meters. Very smooth hard plasticy knobs, and I mean all knobs on the unit are smooth hard plastic, not the standard rubberized texture knobs we are all acustomed to on mixers these days. For the price at least rubber knobs could have been added. Finally, it is claimed by the manufacturer that the unit can be powered by USB only, which was a main reason I purchased this, however the unit does work with just USB, volume output is very low, and on top of that all the LED lights on the unit are low, and to make matters worse none of the pads light up showing previous que points or loops on a track. Very dissapointed in this unit which has more than meets the eye in cost-saving aspects to its design. Returned same day after working with tech support for a couple hours on the sound and level metering issues.
