I am new to magsafe cases and am coming off many, many years of using Otterbox Defender cases (all the way back to the earliest iPhones), so drop protection is a big deal for me. In all the years I've put my phones in Defender cases and many ugly drops, I've NEVER had a screen crack (the screen protector may crack, but not the actual screen or phone). I purchased this case and one of ESR's clear Original cases so I could compare them. This case is far superior to ESR's Original model and a bit more like the Defender in design but thinner and with both magsafe and a handy stand! This case also advertises both military grade AND 23 foot drop protection. I've never had a phone drop that far, but I do drop my phones too often so I'd rather have better protection than the clear case would provide. This case offers more edge protection than the Original case and because the back is not clear, it has padding on the back similar to the Defender. The back is thinner than the Defender and this is a one-piece case versus three for the Defender, so we'll see how protective it is over time. It was a far easier installation than the Defender of course, but I will admit that I'm a bit afraid the phone might pop out in a bad fall. We'll see how it works. That said, I did have my screen protector crack last night when I had a car problem on a very dark roadway, but it fell forward onto a rock, so I doubt the Otterbox would have done any better! I do find this case more slippery than the Otterbox and worry about the one-piece construction, so we'll see how it works over time. I will update this review in the coming months. Love the kickstand, though I do wish they had more feminine colors like fuchsia or purple. The case grips solidly onto magsafe chargers and other accessories.Important!! If you do need to use a usb c cord for charging or wired Apple car play for an older car, you MUST get a usb extender with an extra long 10mm USB C portion. Most extenders I tried are too short to fit into this case. The longer ones are sold on Amazon but you need to specify the length in a search. Make sure the portion that holds the USB C part also has a slender profile! You cannot use MagSafe for data transmission so you need a cord that fits this case if you need a wired connection to your car’s display.

I don’t know if it’s the iPhone 16 Pro Max or the case, but I dropped my two day old phone in the lake while fishing near the bank today. Fortunately, the water was only 4 1/2 feet deep, but so muddy you couldn’t see. I hopped off my kayak and felt around on the silt with my feet. The phone was underwater for at least five minutes. I thought for sure it was gone. When I pulled it out of the water, it was functioning perfectly. This case even covers the charge port. It must cover enough of the very top thin Speaker that not a drop got in. I’m absolutely happy that I had this case on my phone today. Next time it’ll be in a floating dry box.

The ESR 16Pro case is slightly thicker than OtterBox iPhone 14 mil-spec, and is padded outside with a harder rubber on the corners, while the OtterBox has softer rubber in the liner and entire exterior. I think the OtterBox box will absorb shocks better for longer. They both have two part cases, but the OtterBox for iPhone 14 has a hard inner liner while ESR has the hard plastic outside. ESR is cheaper though, and seems to protect the lenses well.

I just bought an iphone 16 pro and was using an otterbox on my old phone. I was going to get one for this phone but didn’t like their cutout design for the camera button.This green case is nice. I like the way it feels in my hand. Had some silicon on it for grip and the plastic is textured so it’s perfect for holding onto. The little kickstand in the camera area is nice and functional. I love the raised lip on the front to protect my phone face front. The piece around the camera button is my only compliant because it’s silicon all around it so if I hold my phone in that area or it does move the silicon on the edge, I have some concerns about the longevity of that piece. The case is two pieces the silicon and then the hard plastic to snap over it.Love the little cover over my speakers on the bottom. The buttons are all very functional through the case.The magnet is nice and strong to hold my phone to charger, etc.I’m most likely going to get my husband this same case for his phone in black!

The case is very nice and I would trust it to protect my iPhone. Definitely does add a little bulk but that's fine for me. My concern is just the longevity of the camera guard/stand as well as the camera button cut out rubber piece. The camera guard stand feels like good quality however, when it's open, seems to wiggle and I am not sure if that is intended by ESR. The rubber portion by the camera button worries me in the long run as I am worried it will sag over time, but for now it seems to snap back into its original position. Overall, a very solid case especially for the price.UPDATE 04/09/25:Making it 5 stars. I reached out to the seller and mentioned the wobbly camera stand. They got back to me quickly and offered to send me a replacement, which arrived incredibly fast. The replacement case does not have the wobbly kick stand so the original case I received was probably just a bad unit. Still a solid case and great customer service too!
