Wondering if the price (about 3X other brands) is worth it?

I wondered the same thing. Fate intervened when I spotted an unbranded dutch oven for sale at TJ Maxx some 15 years ago for $30. I have been using it (often) ever since. I bought another dutch oven, about a 2 years ago at Target for $40. It works exactly the same as my other one. Paying more than $50 for a dutch oven is either vain or stupid; or both.

Can it be used on the glass top ranges?

I use it on a glass cooktop, but you have to make sure to put your oil or butter in the pot before you start to heat it, or it can stick, and damage your cooktop and pot.

what are the dimensions of the 7 1/4 qt round le creuset dutch oven

Diameter is 11 1/2 inches and height is 7 1/2 inches. This info is from the Le Creuset web site. With the handles is almost 15 inches wide.
