how much weight will it support?

There's no weight bearing measurement on the table or in the instruction manual; but my father is a stroke patient and has used it faithfully since we got it without any problems. There was one time 5 of our cats got on it all at once without it having any give, their combined weight should be Peanut 7lbs + Rosco 10lbs + Little Bit 9lbs + Gus 19lbs + Sally 17lbs = 62lbs total est, so I know it supports that at least.

Does this item have locking wheels?

is it hard to assemble? do you need hardware to assemble it?

No, the table is fairly easy to assemble. Have a Phillips Head screw driver, an adjustable wrench and a rubber mallet if handy. The only thing I changed were the screws that fasten the table top. I found some slightly longer so that there is a more secure hold. The rubber mallet makes putting the caster wheels on a whole lot easier. Hope this helps :o)
